Eric Fisher LT KC---"possible" cap space cut. REACT Meh. Ooooo, are you not a Fisher guy ? My understanding was at the beginning he was meh. But has grown into the NFL LT position ? He won a SB, so he will ride that to payday. We can agree that if we made the move, we best have got it right. He would not be cheap.

It's to his credit that Teddy went 5-0 with the Saints but he did it with a pretty darn good team. Chargers ain't them. We should be better in 2020 but sticking with Tyrod removes some of the variables, allows LAC to spend FA money elsewhere, like Conklin, Scherff.

The variable of not making an expanded playoff pool.

At the risk of reading one of Freak's future, "I told you so...We should be ALL OVER talking to Teddy Bridgewater", he's a hard pass for me. I like the guy's personality, football IQ and think he'd be an okay option at QB1, but that's just it...he's just okay. I agree with others who have already said Tyrod's contract is a better money savings which (at this time) allows TT more cap space to pursue one or several of the upper tier FA O-linemen (Yes Freak, we can have nice things). I would add that Tyrod is more mobile than Teddy which is something Coach Lynn covets. I also think Lynn's loyalty to giving Tyrod a legitimate shot at QB1 plays into this. Lynn has proven to be a bit stubborn when he sets his mind to waiting for something to pay off--even if means risking his job. Think Cardale Jones who is now playing for the DC Defenders of the XFL. With a one year commitment left on Lynn's contract and Rivers no longer around to presumably go against orders, I believe management's plan is to let Lynn hang himself going forward with Tyrod as his starter...if it works, lucky him. If not, well....
Here's how I see things playing out.
OPTION 1: With the last remaining ties to San Diego being eliminated (Rivers), Chargers brass know ticket sales (THIS YEAR) are not going to increase, so they will make a hard play for Brady. This is not about making more money or playing in a fancy new stadium. The simple pitch. "Come be THE GUY who brought a franchise their FIRST Super Bowl." FIRST is a very powerful word. The Bengals, Bills, Browns, Cardinals, Chargers, Falcons, Jaguars, Lions, Panthers, Texans, Titans and Vikings have not won a Super Bowl in their history. Laugh if you will, but Brady will give serious consideration to the CHALLENGE and the possibility of making history not tied to Belichick. Think about this for a moment. Going back to win in NE (AGAIN) changes nothing to his legacy, plus he will still be linked to BB as the key to his success. Going to the Raiders new stadium is a thought, but that franchise has already won a Super Bowl, so winning there only matches what Peyton Manning already did in Denver winning for two different teams. Except for the Bengals, all of those remaining teams on the list have a QB. The Chargers have a very good defense, decent special teams, and weapons on offense. Should Brady pass on the opportunity to be FIRST, the Chargers will move on to OPTION 2.
Wait for it....
OPTION 2: Be Bold (or stupid crazy) the Chargers will move up to #2 in the draft for Tua. HIs young, a proven winner, has an arm and is mobile. Everything Lynn wants. Prediction. It will be Tyrod, Tua and Stick. React!!!

Brady: Absurd, but that’s what makes it possible. Trading up for Tua: See above.

“ While the team has attempted to reassure him...”
This makes me worried they really do think the OL is close.

HIs young, a proven winner, has an arm and is mobile. Everything Lynn wants. Prediction. It will be Tyrod, Tua and Stick. React!!! This is a great post for a couple of reasons. First, it mentions ME repeatedly. That alone will get you nominated. Next, I do not have to agree with a post. I'll I need is a take or an opinion. My take on Brady is he wouldn't do it to be the first, he would do it to say he was able to do it without Belichick. Its getting weird in NE. Belichick was against a Brady return (was it money ?), Brady felt insulted. Then the big one came. Brady ALWAYS had Kraft in his corner. Now I guess that is not the case, so Brady is furious. I think you are still 50-50 he'll be back in NE. The Chargers Plan A will never be Tyrod. There is still hope for you Taylor guys. We can easily screw up FA and the draft. That would leave us with Taylor. The Org. will lie through their teeth and claim that was the plan the whole time. Trust me, it-is-not. I have no problem with your Option 2.

“ While the team has attempted to reassure him...” This makes me worried they really do think the OL is close. I read that like he's afraid of being a cap cut, and they said he's not. As far as another extended contract after that. He should be afraid.

Brady would have to be insane to play behind this oline as it is now. With that said, I don't think a FA QB is in our future. Possibly a 1st, likely a later rounds QB IMHO to play behind Tyrod.
Honestly the only FA QB I want is a healthy Newton...

It will be Tyrod, Tua and Stick. React!!! This is the way. I wouldn't mind taking a chance and trading up. We can draft Tua and the opening day starter is Tyrod or Tua, I think this is the best way forward. Losing a couple of draft picks isn't the end of the world if you can land a new franchise QB. This should be followed by some nice OL FA signings, bringing back Hunter Henry, extending Bosa and giving Melvin Gordon a below market value contract offer. Tua is a lot more intriguing than similar trade up scenarios for Goff, Wentz, Darnold or Trubisky…..I think it will be worth it.
