Read the comments on this tweet from a year ago and 😆!
This next comment was the punch line to a skit performed by a group of Welsh students on our CSULB rugby team that started with “You’ve got to be a big fat bastard to play darts”:
“There’s only one word for that: Magic darts!!”

One of the top two draft picks during TT’s tenure! 🍺 And you know, that really is a good pick for Telesco at 76. When you find a 1st round talent deep like that, that's really good on the GM He was passed by 75 times before he was drafted. That's crazy.

If Staley/Lombardi get the run game going strong, what is the preferred ratio of run/pass efforts?
If they are running more than passing, is that a failure in utilizing Herbert's talents properly?

"Preferred" is subject to your talent. If you have Herbert at QB and Pope at RB, you PREFER to throw the ball. If you have Derrick Henry at RB, you PREFER to run the ball. 60% run plays seems to have been league average last year, and we were right in the neighborhood. We were a little pass happy given Herbert. Did you know the Chargers led the league in having the most offensive plays in the NFL last year ? Tampa Bay won the SB, and they were really pass happy. 63.7% pass and 36.3% run.

Our run game really worries me... We need Eckler to perform.

Our run game really worries me... We need Eckler to perform. if Ekeler gets hurt we are in a world of trouble. Cuz Jackson will already be hurt getting out of bed the week prior. You might as well run Pipkins out there at that point. (I wonder if he could do short yardage runs..............)

I think they brought in Roundtree because they needed a real #2/backup that can also play ST. Let’s see how he looks. It would not surprise me if they keep Roundtree and Kelley and let JJ and Bradwell go.

I think they brought in Roundtree because they needed a real #2/backup that can also play ST. Let’s see how he looks. It would not surprise me if they keep Roundtree and Kelley and let JJ and Bradwell go. Telesco said in his post draft press conference that Roundtree wouldn't be asked to return punts or kicks. But I think he was definitely drafted to play on special teams coverage and blocking- remember how BAD Joshua Kelley was blocking for punts?? ?? ?? I think one of the qualities Roundtree had over other RBs in this draft was he is actually a pretty good blocker. It's a given that Ekeler and Roundtree (because he was just drafted) make the team, but it's a tough call on the other two or three. Justin Jackson can't stay healthy but has shown some good ability when he does get a chance to play RB. Kelley had one good game last year and then devolved into primordial ooze. But he was a rookie and may have learned from his mistakes and seizes a second chance opportunity. (I'd like to see him overcome last year's mess.) A lot of fans were high on Bradwell from the Hard Knocks stuff in preseason, but I'd say he is the least likely to make the team and at best goes to the practice squad again. None of them appear to be the second coming of LaDainian Tomlinson so maybe a UDFA or a veteran June 1st cut from another team could easily outperform all three of them.
