Murray was average to below average Jones was average to below average Mayfield and Darnold were trash Allen was a pleasant surprise but still made rookie mistakes... the playoff game was horrible Minshew only got playing time because of Foles injury
Rosen and Turbisky are obvious reasons for properly grooming your young QB before thrusting him in the limelight.
I think you take a 50/50 chance and it depends on the QB, and how mature/ready they are plus the system they came from.
Lynn would be wise to let his future QB absorb the NFL game from the bench and let TT start until he is truly ready... TT is capable, we don't HAVE to start Herbert now like alot of other teams are forced to do.
I don't agree with your evals, but the topic isn't about ratings. Its about the wave of rookies that started. Its not like it used to be. The great Aaron Rodgers just had Jordan Love drafted in the first round by the Packers. He's pissed. There are reasons for his anger.......................spooky scared. Now that situation is different in that Rodgers is obviously their starter. For now. Do see how even THAT situation gets edgy ?? 1st Round QB's are serious business. They are no longer there to ride the pine for years. Something will give inside of two years there. You want REAL Freak talk ?? If Herbert fails, and Love does good. I can literally see Rodgers be a Charger in two seasons. HOW'S THAT FOR FREAK TALK ?? Yes, more rookies are starting but I don't think it is the right approach for many. The Bengals released Dalton, so what if Burrow fails? They look like fools... The Packers screwed up and everyone is saying it, Packers brass better hope Love can perform.

Could be Rodgers has told the FO that he is done in two years... Remember when Farve said he wouldn't help Rodgers?

Remember when Farve said he wouldn't help Rodgers? My understanding is it was a power flex move. Rodgers is an ass, and the front office is growing tired of it. The message was we run the show; not you.

Seems like a veteran player, QB no less, has a bit too much influence. Club is bringing that back into alignment in a not so subtle way.

Here is another reason they are willing to try out a rookie 1st round QB before they are ready. The monetary investment is so much smaller that isn't part of the risk. There inst 50-80 million invested in these rookies where they have to perform. If they don't rise up under fire they can be dropped for the new hotness the next year.

Do "A", the result is "B". Every time. LOL. Oh hell ya! In reality, somewhere between "A" and "Z" and not easily done twice even with the exact same people. Starting rookie QBs is like herding cats. Forget about the totality of the species. Pick a good one and work with them. Choose a path that hopefully is both optimal for that specific QB and that meets or exceeds your goals. Good luck!

I have watched some tape on Herbert before draft and probably everything available after.
I am getting warmer to this pick more and more. Guy seems humble, extremely intelligent and simply loves football.
I hope our "headcoach" will not rush him to play as the last desperate attempt to save his job.

Herbert is the best QB on the roster, by a long way. Talent plays......
