Sucks for Taylor under these circumstances (second straight time that he has lost his starting job due to an injury), but it's the only logical move that Lynn could make. _____________________________ The Los Angeles Chargers announced that rookie Justin Herbert will be their starting quarterback over veteran Tyrod Taylor. Chargers coach Anthony Lynn made the announcement Thursday, saying about Herbert “this is why we brought him here: to be our franchise quarterback.” Taylor was supposed to be the starter, but complications from a pain-killing injection for his ribs before the team's Week 2 game against Kansas City ruled him out before kickoff, pushing Herbert into the role. Herbert, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has started the Chargers’ last three games, completing 77-of-107 passes (72 percent) for 931 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. The Chargers are 0-3 in Herbert's starts, but each loss has been by seven points or fewer. Lynn said after the 23-20 overtime loss to the Chiefs that Taylor would be the starter if fully healthy. This story will be updated. theathletic.com/news/chargers-name-justin-herbert-starting-quarterback/OQXQS2Nprwi6

My first thought was "Duh!" Then I thought "I'm glad TT or ownership had a sit down talk with Lynn." And lastly I thought "Yes, this is bad luck for Tyrod Taylor and I do feel bad for his injury and these circumstances" ... but I also think it would be wrong on several levels to go back to Taylor now that Herbert has been playing (and playing fairly well).

Brock Anderson @brocka_Anderson · 3h Rookie Justin Herbert has completed 72.0 percent of his passes this season — the best completion percentage by any QB in NFL history through their first three career starts (min. 100 passing attempts).

The Schefter quote is interesting. We all know AL loves TT, and said he would start if 100%, yet schefter says TT believes in his rookie QB. Hmmm... You are probably correct, AL was sat down. I bet though AL is looking for any excuse to pull him during a game. 3 games at 300 yards per!! Well 290 on the last one. I think it will come down to INT's. if Herbert keeps throwning them at the worst times. Lynn will have ample justification

The only way Herbert sits is due to injury.

Is it bad that I kinda want TT back as the starter? Not because he will win anymore games, but because I don't want our new QB killed behind that flag football oline. Just ask David Carr what that's like... ugh...
