I will say this about the Rams. They don’t **** around. When they decide to move on they move on fast. that aggressiveness is what got them in CAP hell. There are no solutions, only trade offs

And the Rams signed Goff to that contract a year before they needed to do it. This is the immaturity of McVay. The Rams overreacted to Goff’s early success. Now they may be overreacting to one subpar season. I agree with this... Goff is better than LA gives him credit for, although I would say Goff gets most of the blame for the Superbowl meltdown.

Perhaps there is more to it than meets the eye currently.

Stafford and McVay were apparently both down in Cabo while this went down vacationing with their wives. They met up for dinner afterwards. I’m surprised our Cabo residents from the other forum didn’t give us a heads up

When this went down I immediately interpreted it as the “justin herbert effect” Had justin not blown up on the scene in LA do the rams trade so much and their starter (a guy they just extended for a ton of money) for stafford? I really wonder. The thing is, 2021 has become the defacto inaugural season at So-Fi, I think the rams felt like they had to make a splash or be horribly overshadowed by the “justin herbert effect” in their opening season at So-Fi.
If herbert goes to miami, I think jared goff would still be the QB of the La rams. This is all about McVay not wanting to be overshadowed in LA.

Sean McVay could give two squirts about the Chargers or any perception of a fight for LA. McVay, and many others, consider him the greatest offensive mind in the NFL. If he was concerned about anything its that Staley's defense overshadowed his offense. It's been long reported that Jared Goff was not a great fit for what McVay wanted to do (maybe it's the tiny little baby hands). McVay even was credited for his patience and perseverance with Goff. I'm guessing that the extension was either an attempt at a vote of confidence or avoidance of the balloon fifth year of his rookie contract. I'm thinking that getting Stafford was 100% an attempt to get the Rams back in the Super Bowl and had absolutely nothing to do with Justin Herbert.

Herbert did not trigger that trade. Goff just isn't "it". He can get you by, win some games. But he's not elite. They wanted some more flash at QB. The Rams are in the best division of football, nobody bother replying that its not by the way, so they needed a step up.

Majority of fans at Sofi are in Raiders black NOT Rams blue ... but ... tHe cHaRgErS hAvE nO fAnS Makes sense, The rams where there from 49-94 and the raiders were there for 12 years from 83-94? 45 years of history vs 12 and somehow the raiders have more fans in LA than the rams. Maybe it’s because the raiders already had 3 super bowl trophys? Of course the rams left the state entirely and moved to a different region in the country altogether. The raiders also recently moved to another state but are only a 5hr drive from the city of LA. IDK, for whatever reason people in LA gravitated to the bad boy image of the raiders over the hollywood image of the rams that they traditionally had there. perhaps that was Al Davis’ secret, appealing to the masses of lower and working class people that felt the rams didn’t represent them in los angeles. After watching the rams vs raider preseason game at So-Fi I must admit the place was crawling with raider fans, I’d guess around 60% but who knows. If charger raider games turn out like that it won’t be a pleasant environment for the chargers in LA, they won’t have home field in their own stadium but often that was the case in san diego too, so there is that.

I'm thinking that getting Stafford was 100% an attempt to get the Rams back in the Super Bowl and had absolutely nothing to do with Justin Herbert. That balloon you mention was a year away and the rams could easily have extended later rather than sooner, plus mcvay had already coached him for two years on the field and was in his third offseason as rams head coach when they extended goff. I don’t know about you but it seems to me that mcvay has a lot of sway in that organization. If he wasn’t sure about jared 2 plus years into his goff experience then why agree to extend him a year early when he still had the 2019 season left on his rookie deal? It’s really confusing and makes no sense unless you feel that management tried to power play mcvay into accepting goff as his guy by throwing 134million bucks down the drain, that seems absurd to me. Something happened that made mcvay have a panic attack about his QB. It’s the same thing that’s going to happen to tua in miami unless he improves dramatically. Justin started the clock on folks and I think one of them was mcvay. Mcvay saw the chargers get a bigger gun than the one he had and and he went looking for the biggest one he could get on short notice. make no mistake about this, the rams are still very much in the process of re-establishing themselves as a brand in the LA market again. The perception that they have a smaller star at QB than the team squatting in their home stadium is not something that they can abide. Of course Justin Herbert blowing up on the scene had something to do with the stafford trade, don’t be naive.

Just Win, Baby I feel it will be the same as prior for both The Bolts and Rams getting invaded. L.A. is a transplant city and also a vacation city. Perfect for opposing fan bases. I actually think the Raiders will get invaded in Vegas even more so as that is even more of a transplant vacation city. How many opposing fans will fly to Vegas for $99, stay in Circus Circus for $99, party, warm weather and see their team in the middle of winter?

Do you think the Raiders will be as popular as the Golden Knights? That surprised the hell out of me... Everyone I know in Vegas is a huge GK fan, I never would have thought. But yea winning does help...
