New year kicks off with a bang as Lakers bring Russell Westbrook home. So glad to see Kyle Kuzma on his way out of town. Huge disappointment. Won’t miss KCP or Trez either.

Lots of chatter about Westbrook’s “fit”, lack of 3 point shooting and stat padding. Lakers also have to build a roster that only has 4-5 players signed and no salary cap money to do it aside from veteran exceptions and nba minimum. But yes, they went for it and he’s a hometown guy with a non stop motor who can take the load off a 37 year old Lebron. Perennial all star and most triple doubles in nba history. I’ll take it. If anything, they’ll be interesting

Little moekid story for ya. At the 2010 nba finals I had great center court row 9 seats for game 7 of the Lakers v Celtics. Sitting right behind me was Russell Westbrook. At half time, as we left the seats I ran into him. He was maybe one inch taller than the moekid. That’s it. I was stunned that the dude who played at such a high nba level was basically my size. I don’t know what he’s listed at but he’s no more than 5’11”. And can dominate. That’s the kind of athlete Russell Westbrook is.
Also, even though he was taken with the 5th pick in the nba draft when he came out, he was not the star of the UCLA team. That was Kevin Love. He wasn’t the scorer in college that he became. All hard work and effort.

Lakers are an older folks home now. Added Howard and Ariza both on the wrong side of 35 to go with 37 year olds LeBron a d 33 year olds Westbrook. AD under 30 but breaks like an old man.
In any case, this is the time of the year where guys get make money in astronomical amounts. CP3 at the age of 37 re ups with the Suns for 4 years and $120m. Lingo Ball gets $85m for 4 years. Duncan Robinson $90m for 5, Trae Young get $207m for 5 years and on and on
