I will edit this, as Hollywood herb has done, drop the stats and make this a proper thread opener.
The only fault Tom had was not going up to draft Herb before Miami especially with their Day Before smoke screen that they were gonna take Herbert. Btw — I don’t think it was a smoke screen. This could be Reversed but I’m pretty sure that the GM of the dolphins wanted TUA and the coach wanted Herbert. Either way nobody could’ve predicted who will be one of the all-time greats and I am confident when saying that, we’ve been so blessed Charger fam. I love ya’ll. We’ve been thru so much.
Tom could’ve jumped the whistle but he bet 17 black on roulette and won, stayed pay and was gifted the Prince. But had he coach been the GM of Miami, we’d have Mr Work In Progress Tua scared Nova
So there’s no mistake Tom got lucky, but still, he could’ve been Scared Fish like the Niners HM or packers Gm and made crazy choices for future mortgage to get a bust. Chicago doesn’t have a first round pick till like what 2025
Tom gets love for staying pat.

Its ok, I get it. Herbert is a great player, TT likely cemented his job for awhile with the pick. Herbert is only a piece to the puzzle, and I would think someone so high on Herbert would demand a GM that can actually get him the supporting cast to succeed.

I firmly believe it is in the works !! He drafted the QB in the first round. The next he drafted the LT in the first round. That is textbook how you start building championships. He KNOWS he needs other pieces. 75 million dollar cap, and 7 draft picks for this season coming up. I expected playoffs this year. Challenge for the AFC Conf. next year. We are right on schedule.

I would give TT more credit if he chose Herbert over Tua, but Herbert fell to us. Just like Derwin. More luck than anything else IMO. I suspect you feel the same way. But some of TT later round picks are showing promise. I like what I see in McKitty, Palmer, & Parham. Even lost cause Pipkins may prove Freak wrong. He has also made good moves with the vets with Linsey, Fieler, Hopkins, Roberts... With deep pockets for next season and a solid base to work with, the team is looking pretty darn good right now. I don't think TT has to worry about job security.

This is what seems frustrating for me with you.....you understand the acquisition of the pieces, yet you think TT should be able to acquire any and all that might be needed by just going to the player store and buying the ones he wants. Building a roster takes time, and is far more difficult than most understand, but you know this.

Rather than just bring in 22 players all at once, they are doing it in batches so the culture stays the same. Its a winning formula.

Ok lmaooo I'm not going to keep quoting the vomit gif... So I really do get it, I'm not NYBOLTFAN, but what has taken so long? TT has been here since 2013 and our depth is still trash, things are looking up and we have a crap ton of cap space. If TT can keep it up we are in good shape, I do agree. But PR should be sitting on his front porch thinking what the hell man, NOW they want to build a team?
Better late than till you lose your job? I'm rooting for a solid off season this year, but dang... Took you long enough.
