ROT, CB, WR, LB would be my priority in that order. But BPA regardless is the way to go. I am with you AF....but I put the order of preference at ROT, ILB, CB, WR.....and BPA has a big influence on which way to go.

Draft Tillery replacement while the talent is there. That would be our 4th DL addition this year. I don't see them doing it in the first round. We did 3 DL in FA to alleviate the need in the first round. That's just my take.................We'll see....... (so easy to toy with the villagers. Like Elon Emperor playing with the masses. Genius) The big question would be do they believe the three dl additions fix the big problem? If not, round one dl is quite possible.

There is about 5 positions possible. With TT always being tight lipped, its insanity to guess.

Maybe no one has been on the edge of their seat waiting for this, but with only one week to go here is my official prediction for the Chargers first round pick: Zion Johnson, offensive Guard Boston College Notes: - There are other players I'd prefer but I expect them to be gone; there's the consensus top 10 or 12 picks, but Jameson Williams, Jordan Davis, Charles Cross and Derek Stingley are players mocked to the Bolts that in reality will be long gone.
- I would take Zion over the next tier of CBs (even McDuffie), WRs (even Olave) and Tackles (especially Penning!)
- This pick may not be #17
- How can you not like someone named ZION??

Is Green a better Guard than Zion ? Guards---undervalued by position. Pass. Boring dime a dozen.

I think the player will have a solid career, so no problem with him being the pick. That said, I think any OG being the pick would be based around the intention or plan for ROT.

If Zion is BPA than sure, I don't think he will be though. Either way our 1st rounder needs to perform. With the success of Herbert and now Slater, we need to keep this trend going.

From my limited knowledge and research, Zion is the best non-tackle lineman in this draft (better than Green), and he has a very high floor (~can't miss, future all-pro) at Guard.
Picking a guard is not my preference- it lacks the excitement of a skill player or even a defensive player- but it is one of the few weaknesses (before better depth) on our team. Right Tackle may be a bigger weakness, but of the players still likely to be around in the second half of the first round when we pick, the Tackles are gambles and projects as opposed to virtually can't miss starters, which is what a first rounder should be. And Zion is predicted to be not just a good starter, but an all-pro level starter!
We all say the battles are won in the trenches, but on draft night all of us want the sexy pick not the big uglies.
Maybe one of the studs do fall in this draft, that would be awesome! But I'm making a prediction for our pick that isn't based on hoping for that. Remember, the Raiders aren't picking ahead of us this year so we can't count on their bone-headed picks like we've seen in the past!
And while taking Zion at 17 would be safe and hard to complain about, I'm thinking we may see a trade down into the 20s and take him later in the first! That's the scenario I'm hoping for, but still not counting on.

So what is the consensus pick?
After a quick bit of research.....
I think TT will/should go OT as I simply do not believe they are content with what the current options are. So now it is down to what OT is there at 17.....I believe the OT left is Trevor Penning.
I want TT to trade back, get a 2nd if possible, but a 3rd certainly, and then pick ILB Devin Lloyd......solving (hopefully solving) another glaring deficiency.

I don't think we have a consensus this year, but I bet it will be OT Penning or someone that falls due to a run of oline. Likely CB or Edge... I'd be shocked if we got Lloyd.

This is how I would like to see happen with our top 3 picks
#17 CB Trent McDuffie - Washington
#79 RT Max Mitchell - Louisiana
#123 G Jamaree Salyer - Georgia
With all the extra lower picks I would see about using them in midround trade-ups to improve our depth with BPA

What happen to that ?

What happen to that ? You make it sound like Penning would be a horrible pick at 17 because of why? Sixteen players went before him? Or do you think he is a fourth rounder type talent? Or a reach? The statements from Chargerland imply they believe in Pipkins, I am not buying it......I think there were no solutions in FA, which almost locked in OT for early draft. It will be either first round or third......waiting past that probably doesn't get them the upgrade they seek.

If you really want me to draft Penney in the first, just remind me that Pipkins was a third round pick. That should do it. My Penney concern is he ready to go day 1 ? Needs a year ? Too raw ?
