That was the guy you and others wanted to be our starter that year and not draft Herbert at all !!!!! While I pounded the table for a QB. You pounded for trash hybrid LB Simmons. (don't worry. I remember.) Yes, I wanted Simmons, but that is not the point is it? Drafting, then not playing a first round pick just smells like a reach..... The exception is QB. If they need a year, teams will do it because of the value of the position. Like in SF this year, it looks like Trey Lance will start this year.

Third year in, perhaps the light comes on for Pipkins, and upgraded play is the result. Or they draft an OT, and projections aside, the player exceeds expectations..... The unknowns abound, do they not.... I really want this to be true. It will be a tremendous help in an area of need and free up a first round pick to shore up the defense. Yes.....even if his play is middle of the pack average, it would represent a huge change from that position.

It was a great time for Mass Kneeling to me. It's happened so often. It was 'Tua Time' for you. Not sure that was much better. QB all the way and didn't care if it was Tua or Herbert. Just like TT. He said whoever was left he was drafting. Don't spread goalie lies.

You are goingto chase that first round Linebacker every year to the grave huh ? At least its a bold pick. Do the Chargers love him enough ? That's what it comes down to.

We both know, as such, no proof needed.....eh No, I think they go OT, or a falling CB..... I would love to see a trade down, getting a 2nd or 3rd, then take Lloyd. TT doesn't trade down, so.....

The talent seems leveled where we pick, and we don't have a second rounder. If he doesn't trade down now he probably never will. Lloyd is out. OT is in. We now hedge out of fear because I said CB. Gotcha.

I think it will be a cornerback, d-line, or guard. In that order of preference depending on who remains on-board. The last two years the boltz were not losing games due to lack of scoring. This year its time to load up the defense.

Hey it's time for all of us here on the CMB to put in their specific predictions for our first round pick tomorrow night! I love seeing Freak has gone on record for Trent McDuffie specifically. I've seen some other posts where Penning or Lloyd were mentioned, but I'm not sure if anyone owned the player as their prediction. I'm on the record with a prediction of Zion Johnson, either at 17 or hopefully after a trade back. This isn't my first choice, but there's at least 16 good prospects that will gone before we get to choose, so this is who I think is the best available for us long term. The guys I would want but will be gone include Stingley, Jameson, Cross. I'd be fine with some of the other top prospects at DT, Edge, WR, CB, maybe even LB. The guy I want the least is probably Penning; he may be a monster but he may just as likely be a small school sammy floundering at the big boy level. This is always an exciting, fun time for me- I love the draft and I have eight friends coming over to watch tomorrow night. But none of them are Charger fans, so it's up to the CMB to add the thunder to the lightning!!!

You picking CB as the choice position matters little, as we all know you just go with the safe consensus.......just like you did with Tua.

I am on record that I think it will be CB (McDuffy), d-line (Davis), or guard (Johnson) depending on who is there. I fully expect that TT will draft Kyle Hamilton, a safety from Notre Dame.

DT was all the craze forever. Now RT is the wave. Hell, I've seen more WR talk than CB. Guards too. (Keep an eye on Williams at WR if he is still there.)
