You could be right there, Freak, but if Davis plays well, the Bolts might keep him an extra year until they can draft/sign FA LB help...in the meantime, they just improved their LB depth, and as I said, Davis can cover...need more fast, sure-tackling COVERAGE LB's...(if we're gonna beat the Cheatriots)... So we resigned Perryman who is injury prone as heck and added a guy who is 35. So far we are good at depth at LB positions. I'd like to see an impact FA signing for the defense - a game changer. Davis will probably be good for the younger guys, but i doubt he makes a huge impact at this point in his career. Still a decent signing for the price. He averaged 6.5 tackles per game last year, while we were tackling ourselves in New England.

I watched the video on YouTube about Davis teaching Luke back in Carolina about how to practice and watch film. Luke Kuechly attributes part of his success to how Davis mentored him. I hope and I'm pretty sure it will be the same here. The greatest intangible that we can get from Davis while he is with us is his leadership. We may see significant better play from our linebackers this coming season. I'm banking on that to change for us.

The biggest FA name on the board now is Earl Thomas who plays a position of need for the Bolts. He not only plays it, he plays it better than anyone. I know he wants big bucks but I hope TT can somehow land him.

Ah, but would it have changed the game plan if they had Davis? Maybe, maybe they could have gone back to using the LB's and not using a boat load of Safety's.

No, but Davis would have probably done a better job of covering James White catching all those passes out of the backfield, AND he would have given us a beefier, sure-tackling LB to go with all those lightweight safeties we used in the penny d. That was just one problem. I feel a key issue was the lack of pushing the pocket from our DT's, along with Boss and Ingram not getting enough pressure from the outside. The report is, against Brady, if you push the pocket, he rushes his throws, and that leads to incompletes and an occasional pick. Also need DT's who can stuff the run. And that's why I think we need a solid DT from the draft AND FA...

Play the market. Sign where it's cheap, not expensive.
Our plan is solid.
In TT we trust.

It looks like the FS position will be a target in this draft. That's not all bad from what I've read about the Safety's in this draft.
