TT is making a mistake now that will see him walking out the door next year with Staley. Probably. But let’s not forget that the Spanos family hired Staley, and they’re letting him stay on as DC.

Jax was a team loss, everybody could have done better. Being the NFL #1 D wks 14-17 and 1st half vs Jax gets DC /HC Staley another shot. The D got the Chargers into the playoffs.
Staley's hot D came against poor clubs, so I am not buying it. The D had terrible halftime adjustments all season, it is part of their identity, and I blame Staley just like I blamed Lombardi. The Chargers, in keeping the same structure in D coaching staff, will see the same results. TT is making a mistake now that will see him walking out the door next year with Staley. Pretty much agree with all of this. The late season improvement came from the players in spite of coaching, not because of it. I have been saying the highlighted all season.

It would be quite interesting to know the conversations that went on......and just how strongly positions /opinions were voiced.

Maybe Staley will try to hire his brother or son as the OC, And Spanos will bring the no nepotism hammer down.
It looks like Sean Payton is going to pass on all the jobs in hopes this one opens up. I am actually flattered.
And you know this to be true, or just random speculation? Seems to be the consensus on all the radio shows. But it is all speculation even by them. If he was going to coach this year he would have signed with a team and got the deal done with the saints already. The in the know rumor guys say the perfect situation for him just isn't open (The Chargers).
If that is the case he highly underestimates the ineptitude of our owners. IF all goes Payton's way and he is available when the chargers job is, he will have to come at a discount or Spanos wont go for it. I am not even talking about the Gm position that Payton will want.

Mia was a top offense 'till we tore them a new one. We had no problem with def half time adjustments wks 14 - 17. The D played well after the bye for the most part and seized the opportunity for the #5 playoff seed. Too bad the O never reached the same level.

We could have won vs SF if our O could have performed even 10% better than it did. Injuries hurt. But so did the lack of creativity in scheme.

Let me frame it differently.............Did Lombardi injure Mike Williams (I believe Bosa and Murray too) in a meaningless week 18 game ? Did Lombardi allow Jax to come back from 27-0 ? Now. Did firing him fix everything ? REACT AS I PROBE YOUR MIND LIKE NO ONE ELSE CAN !! did Lombardi call a jet sweep to Bandy on 3rd and less than a years at the end of the first half against JaX? Did that same play get called 4x during the season for negative 21 yards. And that was with Carter running it? Should Staley have been fired as well. You’re damn right he should have. The defense has underperformed his entire tenure. There are 76 offensive plays a game. Bill Walsh is going to have some clunkers. I was no fan of Lombardi's, but if you think that instantly creates a championship culture under Staley, you are incorrect.

That's really interesting, I wonder if the Saints compensation was too much for teams to justify and played a small part. Those teams are not what he wants is how you translate that. You are welcome.

But I am not claiming TT should fire Staley, in fact I think Staley should stay, as long as he agrees to a change in structure. Staley isn't rolling with years and years of HC experience, yet they allow him to be DC and HC.....it is a mistake in my view. Too much on the plate, mistakes are inevitable. Hire a DC that shares the Staley approach, and ease the demands for the young HC.....
