It's crazy talk. Some teams cannot find their franchise QB over decades. We have done much better than most. Fouts, Rivers, and now Herbert since I was a kid. Brees as an honorable mention and Stan Humphries was better than most as well. Now we got guys that don't want to [pay Justin or want to trade him away. You can't make this stuff up. Which one of those mentioned QB's went to a Super Bowl with the Chargers...... Can we avoid the 1994 Super Bowl? That still stings.

You guys might be surprised about Herbert and his contract......
It has been mentioned by one of you already, winning....really important to players.
So TT says to Herbert....we will give you 75 mil/yr over five years....but you must accept losing. Herbert asks why is that? Well, you get 75, Bosa gets 30, JC gets 25, MW and KA get 20 each.....that is 170 of the 225 available....doesn't leave much room for supporting cast.
I know, you all think I am crazy, but this perspective has started to creep into NHL. Tampa Bay was the first club to really go this way, Stanley Cup wins followed, now Colorado followed this path, Cup win......the Boston Bruins started selling the idea two seasons back, now they are the best club in the league, by far.
Once a player is set financially speaking, winning becomes paramount. Leaving money for others is how you build a winning roster.

You are not wrong the problem is, Why does Justin have to be the one to do it? Bosa should restructure today. J.C. Jackson, today. the problem is that all of these guys know their next snap could be their last. So you get all you can as fast as you can because next play may be the end of your career or even life as we saw last season.
Those first three years of a rookie deal are so important. And ours are gone. Now is where TT and McGuire earn their paychecks. Yo have to lock up your all world quarterback to a market deal now. Because the market only gets worse.
And now you cant go and nab the flashy free agents. You have to build from the draft and get high value free agents. I hope coupon Tom has be clipping the shit out of that weekly flyer. Because rent just went up and we need to fill the cupboard.

Herbert doesn't.....but someone from the Chargers will be the first to embrace the approach. Leadership.......Herbert has it. Yes the earning window is short, so the mindset you state has been the prevalent one in virtually all pro leagues, but that seems to be changing. There will be players that refuse the new approach, and Bosa might be one, might not be as well. Colorado had one just last off season, Kadri.....he wanted to be paid, and he was by another GM. He now plays for Calgary, and is probably considered 'overpaid' by many......similar to Bosa.

I haven't seen much leadership from Herbert honestly... I see it more from guys like James, Van Noy, and Allen.

Us fans take way more mental damage than those guys on the field. They're all laughs, hugs, and high fives after a loss. Except that one guy from the Bengals who single handedly lost the game and blew out his knee all in one fell swoop. That is absolutely correct. It is what it is. moe's fantasy about these deep caring players he wants is extinct. Get paid. Don't get hurt so I can get paid for MORE years. That's the only goals now. They want the postseason and superbowl...........BECAUSE IT PAYS EVEN MORE. That's it. This is the mentality that separates the champs from the also rans. The champs separate those type of players out and extract them from the roster. Coaches have to win and if they’re smart they stock the roster with guys who have that same mentality. Belichick for years let good players go when they wanted a big payday. You saw it last off season with JCJ. He could have paid him or tagged him but he didn’t. And the guy who stepped in had a good season. Didn’t miss a beat. He wants team guys who want to win

It is an assumption, based off of Herbert being the QB of a major college program, and now the NFL. QB's need to be leaders to succeed, which is an opinion rather than an assumption.

Maybe these fools will hire Evero now that the Broncos have released him from his contract
