The run game can be instantly improved with the right OC hire, a healthy Slater, and a continually improving Joshua Kelley as RB2. PLUS a dynamic WR1 selected in the 1st round to take the pressure off the run game... You just don't get it............2 of the 3 things you listed we already have. It takes somethingS different. If you think I am wrong, I'll example something else for you. Tom Telesco will not say anything bad. Always the good spin from him. HE EVEN SAID that run game will be addressed this offseason. HE specifically pointed to the second half of the Jax game. 30th in rushing is a disaster. As we saw when the games count the most. Joe Mixon, Perine, McCaffery, Mitchell, Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders, and even Isiah Pacheco are all STILL in the playoffs. "You have to be able to run the ball when everyone in the stadium knows you are going to run the ball."- Emperor Deception has a place. You have to be able to sell it. Toward that end, you have to be able to run when you choose and they have to defend both pass short and deep and run inside or out. OC play design, calls, OL scheme have been a primary shortcoming. Ek and Kelley would still be playing with a good OC.

How do you win in the post season ? Play defense and run the ball. Cincy made Buffalo their little snow bitches yesterday. Played defense and Joe Mixon went over 100 yards rushing alone.
San Fran: Play good defense, and run McCaffery and Mitchell until they are sick of seeing them.
Hell KC might be THE passing team. Pacheco had 95 yards rushing.
You run to win in the post season.

Is this the year TT goes RB in round 1? Is RB the biggest need? and Freak, being able to run the ball when everyone knows you are going to run is much more about the OL imposing its' will on the DL, as opposed to a RB freelancing back there because the OL failed to block well. sonorajim is the oline expert. I asked him if it was players and he said he thinks its scheme's and coaching..........................................ok, so they can run block and we just don't know it  Something drastic needs done. 30th in rushing I tend to agree, it was more about poor schemes then poor execution. Lombardi was just boring, predictable, far too easy to defend. That said, improving talent at LOG would be nice.

Time for the adults to enter the room. Yes RB in the first. We don’t have the horses now to be the type of running team we need to be. Ek is our Ronnie Harmon, not our Natrone Means. For gods sakes, get a bell cow back this off season. Kelley and Rountree are definitely not it and Spiller isn’t unless Staley is too blind to see what he has (and that may be the case based on jettisoning Chenna, Kyzir, et Al). Let’s give him the befit of the doubt on talent assessment and get that back. I was pounding the table for Kenneth Walker last draft. You all saw what he could do. All of a sudden Geno Smith looked like an NFL qb. Get a damn RB.
