I have to think this pending big money- HUGE money!- contact with Herbert is affecting the team's dealings with internal and external free agents right now. I've seen several free agents sign with other teams and I'd think "we could've/should've paid that for this player".I don't believe the Chargers will extend Herbert until next year (when they have to), but it seems they are planning and preparing now to be able to make him the highest paid QB with this next contract. Like Schultz... I feel like he went to the Texans for next to nothing. Schultz was a low value rental. Grab a TE in the draft. |

And I’ll bet we dump some salary after this year- like an edge rusher and/or receiver. That’s why I think we draft an edge rusher in the first round of the draft. Mack is gone and so is a WR next year. Have to. |

Why would we go get Shultz and have to cut Wverett and eat $4m of his cap hit while paying Shultz $9m. Bottom line Shultz would cost $13m in cap money against $8.25 for Everett FOR THE EXACT SAME PRODU TION |

Why would we go get Shultz and have to cut Wverett and eat $4m of his cap hit while paying Shultz $9m. Bottom line Shultz would cost $13m in cap money against $8.25 for Everett FOR THE EXACT SAME PRODU TION As frozen likes to point out, we're paying for future production. Everett has questionable hands, whiffs on plays, and conditioning is a question... Moore knows Schultz, Schultz is 26 Everett is 28, Schultz is built like a TE Everett is smaller in comparison. I get what your saying, but overall I think it would be a better move.
