It might be unwise to let emotions determine decisions. Yes, that loss was difficult to swallow, but learn and move on. Oh I learned. I learned that this coach and these players don’t have the “right stuff”. No team gives up that kind of advantage and survives. The roster needed a full scale turnover and the coach let go. Should have burned it down and started over. None of these guys will escape it. We followed up a 12-4 season with 5-11 after the Pats blew us out in the playoffs. We’ll be lucky to get 5 wins in 2023. Just wondering g what the rest of you learned. Pats escaped with luck. AJ fired the 14-2 HC.
I learned that we have to be able to run the ball effectively when we have a huge lead if we can't move the ball in the air.

They will pay. They will pay dearly. They sent Coupon Tom home for this negotiation. $$$$$$

Why did you say hopefully they don't do it ? Nobody who played in JaX deserves an extension. Including the guy who put up 3 second half points. Win a playoff game. Burrows deserves an extension. Hurts deserves an extension. Tua and Herbert? Fifth year option Iron Fist post !

It was (the loss) mostly on the coaching staff in my view. That said, I advocated for new OC and DC, while simultaneously insisting on Staley not calling D plays. Now that is not going to happen, we all know it. Chargers spent big for D players last off season, and injuries played a part, but Staley really needs a strong effort from that side this next season. Moore will bring fresh ideas to an offence that badly needs them, but make no mistake, there will be good and bad moments. I think Moore is much more willing to embrace the unusual play, making for an upbeat attitude in that group. Solving the RB issue is paramount. Ekeler is a Charger this next season, but with unhappiness about his situation permeating his effort, the biggest problem with the offence still exists. I suppose some GM might trade for Ekeler, play him under his current contract cost, hoping to negotiate a new deal. I just do not see any club paying 12 million a year, unless it is 1-2 year deal, which Ekeler has no interest in. TT has a much bigger issue to deal with than Ekeler, and that is Herbert's new deal.

It is not about how much Herbert makes, rather how much of the budget does that contract use up. I read somewhere that in 2024, so this time next year, there will be four players on the Charger roster that eat up just short of 40% of the allowed cap. There will be cap casualties next year. That type of cap utilization will leave little for the rest of the roster. Maybe Herbert takes less to have more....

Herbert will take $50 mil a year or so and leave the rest to the team. Herbert...50 mil KA....34 mil MW....32 mil Bosa....36 mil The above are 2024 cap hits. (Herbert is a guess) NFL cap for 2023 is 224 million. It will go up some for 2024, but there are cap casualties coming to this roster. Ekeler is not getting 12 mil/yr, for years and years.....it just isn't in the budget.

There is a story circulating that Saquan Barkley turned down 12 million per year from the Giants. If it is true, he is an idiot. Herbert's extension will be cap friendly for this year and next. but after that it will be big. This year probably in the 18-20 million cap hit, next year max 30 mill. then after 2024 it will be 55+.
The singing bonus money can be differed.
He seems pretty humble in the media at least, and also seems like his back ground and education make him a good fit for making so much money so young. I mean he has already made a ton of dough compared to us peasants, and has at least outwardly stayed humble.

Probably many cuts/trades in a significant rebuild if there’s a new GM and coaching staff if they don’t go deep this season.
