Honestly... The biggest difference has been the willingness to spend in free agency, that's it. There is literally nothing else different about this Charger team... You could argue better early round drafting as well, I'd agree with that. Healthy star players, WR group, an all pro ILB making on field D calls, new OC, DC, QB coach, ILB coach, secondary coach, Head Trainer, etc. Slater, for one is very high on working for Moore. Thinks OL will be one of, if not The Best. One writer expects Ekeler to break 1000 yds rushing finally. The 2023 oline has the potential to return to the mid-00’s level of excellence when clearing the way for LT and protecting a young PR. From left to right, Slater - Johnson - Linsley- Salyer - Pipkins is beyond solid. The only magic elixir ingredient that is missing is avoiding injuries, and as Charger fans we are owed that by the gods!! <<Shaking fist at the heavens with one hand while knocking on the wood that is my skull with the other>>

WR group, aging and banged up... Save us rookie.
All pro ILB making on field D calls, on a new team... Does he know the system?
New OC?, its a turnstyle just like HC. Moore should be a keeper though.
DC? Staley got fired?
Assistants? ok...
We've had an all-pro offensive line before, with PR.
I expect Ekeler to break 1k yards as well.
Just to be clear my comment about nothing being different is a new approach, a new philosophy, not doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Better drafting and the willingness to spend in free agency has given us the best chance we have before Herbert's payday.

Your post has an unhealthy 'glass is half empty' smell to it..... Players are healthy.....until they are not. Chargers simply cannot control that aspect. Kendricks was an all-pro.....he will learn the system easily enough. Coaching turnstyle? Doesn't every club have change in coaches, so calling it a turnstyle seems unfair. Having an awesome OL with PR did not result in a championship, so by all means don't get another awesome OL group.....perplexing. It will be very interesting to see Ekelers use, and the success. Not sure if he gets 1K rushing yards, he might, but I think the run game improves significantly. When outside views about the Charger moves this off season are made, virtually every one of them acknowledges the lack of FA signings, but in the same breath comments about how strong the roster looks. Adding Moore at OC will bring big change to this offence, hopefully positive results as well, which most articles suggest will happen. TT spent very little in FA action this off season, and the draft seems great right now....but they have not played a single play in the NFL yet, so questions exist, eh This roster has the talent.....please give them health and luck going forward!

Because it is... The glass is half empty until Staley can prove he can win in the playoffs.
Oh but they can... and Mike Williams missed our playoff game because of that decision.
I believe Kendricks will learn the system, I think he was a great add.
Coaching turnstyle of rookie head coaches that fail? Unfair maybe, but its true.
Perplexing to you simply because you're trying to argue against me... I'm not saying don't strive for an all pro Oline and didn't even imply it. Straw man fallacy.
I think the run game will improve as well, unless our pass game is suffering, which I doubt. TE still would have been nice...

Your posts do not inspire much faith in the Chargers' abilities going into this season.....and their likelihood of winning.
We do not share a similar definition of 'coaching turnstyle'.....
I am not arguing with you on any of this. I do think your comment "We've had an all-pro offensive line before, with PR." has a defeated tone to it, which is perplexing.
TE is going to be interesting, but my suspicions are they (Chargers) have big plans for Parham......or maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part. IDK

Every season is a new team and new opportunity. Taking a lesson from The Lion King: it doesn’t matter. It’s in the past.
I think the moves they made in FA and the draft were overall good ones. I especially like the OC and DC changes. Now they have to come together and play.

I mean any full-time Running Back who doesn't get 1,000 yards in a SEVENTEEN game season is without an excuse- it's less than 60 yards per game! Take injuries out of it, of course, and the RBs who are in a true committee. Every team averaged at least 22 rushing attempts last year; if the primary RB gets two-thirds of those attempts he needs to average barely four yard a carry to get a thousand yard season. The NFL needs a new benchmark because 1,000 yards doesn't cut it any more. It's a nice round number, and it was special back in a fourteen-game ( twelve?) game season, but the times have changed. Blame it on inflation.

All pro ILB making on field D calls, on a new team... Does he know the system? Staley then turned his attention to Kendricks, who likely will assume Tranquill’s role of relaying the signals in the defensive huddle. “A true commander,” he said. “A tackling machine — sideline to sideline, in the box, physicality. He’s one of the best passing-game linebackers in the last decade. Staley also noted Kendricks’ instincts, energy and ability to communicate. He said he expects the transition to the Chargers to be “seamless” because the Vikings employ a similar scheme. www.latimes.com/sports/chargers/story/2023-03-27/chargers-addition-star-linebacker-eric-kendricks

On that we very much agree. I want to see it—on the scoreboard, in the pace and discipline, in endurance and tenacity. All of it. Paper tigers don’t matter.

I’m trying to keep it low key and commit to a wait & see approach, but I’ve got to admit:
This clip of Brandon Moore mic’ed up at OTA’s has gotten me excited about the offense in 2023!

Is he related to Kellen Moore ? Oops, that name has been on my mind as Brandon Moore was recently named head football coach at USD. usdtoreros.com/news/2023/4/19/national-dii-coach-of-the-year-brandon-moore-named-head-coach-of-san-diego-football.aspxMy cousin Mike McGlinchey (not the NFL offensive tackle) had previously coached with this Moore and was hired as his defensive coordinator at USD. Mike is the son of my late Uncle Mike who had coached Salisbury State to the NCAA DIII championship game against Augustana in 1986.
