So it is time for the Chargers to move on from just practicing, to live play. What will we see?
Yes, we all love/hate PS games.....
from the frustration of the play calling, where coaches want certain plays on film for evaluation....
and the constant in and out of the game of a crazy amount of players, most we don't really know.
What I hope to see is the OL blocking well for the run game. And then hopefully there is a run game, eh
What are you guys wanting to see?

Lots of second and third string play. Most starters won’t play. Biggest thing to watch is the battle for RB2.

We better see improved depth. Our second and third stringers typically get worked in pre season. Or maybe outcoached in a scrub on scrub game

As others have mentioned, RB2 battle will be in the spotlight.
I am also looking forward to seeing Derius Davis on kick & punt returns. I’ve been reading a lot about how physical Dejuan Henley has been in contact (in both taking on blockers as well as tackling), so that’s another guy I want to see in action.

I also want to see how Moore utilizes the TE in his offence......maybe see Parham get some plays.

I want to see defensive mayhem, Guys playing for a roster spot and I want to se the vets on the sideline pumped when the young guys make a play.
When the pads start popping in live action on an NFL stage I want to see some bubble guys make it impossible to cut them.

I'm looking forward to seeing Moore's upgraded offense compared to our previous OC, but I believe preseason games- especially game one- will be very vanilla and not reveal anything much. But maybe now that there are fewer preseason games this is changing? Maybe we will see some wrinkles on offense or defense sooner?

The Saints joint practices next Thursday and Friday will be far more informative regarding both Moore's offense and the new additions to the defensive scheme.

I have been out for a bit and catching up...but, for preseason, I would like to get a good look at the draft picks. Specifically Scott Matlock. I think the D-Line will be using backups often as the season wears on and hoping Scott can take souls.
Also want to see how Duggan compares to Stick. I think we will keep three QBs this season regardless. It would be great to see Duggan perform well and potentially trade him for a draft pick down the road.
I think the WR #5+ spots are wide open with Hightower & D. Davis getting lots of looks with Guyton PUP. RB #2 will stay open for all of camp IMO.

I wonder who controls the film of those practices? Probably shared between the two clubs, but with an agreement to not share elsewhere perhaps?

I’m pretty certain that they share the tape and that there’s an agreement not to share with anyone else. The prior Chargers joint practices over the past decade has involved organizations, coaching staffs and at times players (i.e., PR & Brees) who have a good relationship with each other. However, the most important factor is the teams are in different conferences. The sessions over the past decade have been against the Saints, Cowboys and 49ers. Zero blowups during the sessions and the teams will come back for the five days leading up to the actual preseason game. Realistically, the Saints practices will probably be the only live work against opposing teams that Chargers vet starters will face in the preseason: live competitive action, but in a controlled environment.

I figured there was some sort of agreement in place. Veteran players need very little to be ready for regular season, or so I believe. PS1 is tonight, wonder which reserve players play themselves off the roster.

I’m much more interested to hear about anyone playing themselves ON the roster
