Go to the ESPN website and type Jim Harbaugh into the search engine and see what happens. That's really interesting, I thought it might be because he played for us his last year but that says SD. not LA. That is indeed why. I confirmed it by typing in Irving Fryar, and it came up with Washington Commanders under his name. That’s not because he is going to be the Team’s next HC, but because the last Team he played for was the Washington Redskins. Warren Sapp is Las Vegas Raiders, etc….

Anti Nepotism ?? There are Spanos' running around at every level ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Surely, that's not a sticking point. Make the son assit. coordinator and tell him he needs a year to learn the NFL under Ficken Freakin.

Garafolo reported that the Chargers have made an offer to Harbaugh. The team is also in the process of hiring a new general manager and, per the report, the two sides are at the point where they will discuss the coaching staff that would work alongside Harbaugh.
“My understanding is that it’s an extremely strong offer that they have made to him financially,” Garafolo said on The Insiders. “So, this feels like advancing to the point where if everybody’s comfortable with a lot of the principle factors at play, that this team could move on Jim Harbaugh and try to get him under contract here in the near future.”

Agreed about special teams. That coach deserves to stay and we would do well to keep him.

Agreed about special teams. That coach deserves to stay and we would do well to keep him. That would be nice.--BUT--- I would not prioritize special teams coach over the best HC available. IMO the HC picks his assistants. Ficken will have no trouble finding another job if the new HC cuts him.

It’s getting kinda ridiculous waiting this long for an answer. I mean he wants the job, the chargers want him. Let’s just get it signed and get ready for the draft.

It’s getting kinda ridiculous waiting this long for an answer. I mean he wants the job, the chargers want him. Let’s just get it signed and get ready for the draft. It doesn’t seem to make a ton of sense to have the holdup, given that the financials were apparently worked out ahead of time, and an offer was made. One theory (that nobody is going to like) is that he’s doing what he’s done before, which is building up leverage to use against Michigan. This time he needs more leverage than ever, since he’s asking for the clause to eventually end the relationship only on his terms. If getting that leverage involves burning a bridge with an NFL Owner, Spanos would probably be the ideal one to do that with, definitely more so than Arthur Blank. But then again, if he actually gets what he asked for at Michigan, than he presumably won’t ever be looking for a job again so burned bridges won’t really matter…

I don’t see why this process is such a big deal. It’s a massive contract but more, Harbaugh wants to lock down virtually everything that matters to him before he signs on. It’s smart for both sides. Massive marriage, massive negotiation. Patience.

Massive marriage, massive negotiation. Patience. I would tend to agree if the conclusion was a guarantee, but unfortunately it’s not. In reality he already has a job, and the other candidates aren’t sitting idle while this drags on….
