My problem with that is it what exactly is that same story? It hasn't always been the PR story. It hasn't been PR losing, it been one part of the team or another. Go all the way back to Macree. You can flat out blame lousy drafts, lousy coaching, and lousy players for years 2008 to 2015. To me "the story" is every time the bolts have the talent to win, they get hit by injuries, and or mental mistakes. The mental mistakes take precedent IMO. Every team has injuries. Clock management, penalties at the wrong time, breakdowns in assignments, INT's, fumbles, and for good measure (cause most think this) wrong play selection or wrong D system.
To be fair, the bolts injury bug seems a lot worse for some reason. More players and deeper down the roster. Only one team holds the trophy at season end.......the rest have reasons they didn't. The bold above is the reason I let the staff go...... Poor preparation, bad game planning, horrible focus..... been a staple of the Lynn years. I think that is not quite true. last year the discipline was better. they were winning those late games. True they still had moments, but it was better last year. The PATS game was simple the master vs the rookie.

Think about it this way. The Bolts are in a 'win and in' moment, how many are thinking here comes a serious egg laying game? Lynn just isn't the solution in my view, seen far too many unfocused moments. If you like average, stick with him......

At this point for me, I wouldn't care either way cause I'm not sure that is a good move. If fixing the OL, and perhaps a LB or NT position is all this team needs then changing the HC sets that back. Get the talent right, if he can't win with the right talent the door needs to hit his ass on the way out.

100% agree on the underlined. If you bench Rivers, he will retire after this season to be a high school football coach. The OL has been a concern for years and the GM has failed to fix the problem. Lots of reasons why. TT needs to be an adult and own it. Either fix it or be shown the door. It baffles me to read posts about firing Lynn when he can only work with the players he has been given. High School coach, or join a club that has the money and talent..... The Bolts (TT if you believe he is making the decisions alone) have made attempts each year to improve the OL, they just have not worked. That needs to change. It is to a point that the Bolts need an 'all in' approach to fixing it.....Draft, FA's, UDFA's......even a trade perhaps. If nothing else gets addressed but OL, and they end up with an OL that sees all starters in top 15 rating, they might be on the path to winning more than losing. Lynn is proving himself to be a mediocre HC.......same unfocused mistake filled group each week. I do not envision winning a Super Bowl with Lynn, so I would move on by releasing the entire staff at season end. Please remind me what attempt was made this year to make the o-line better. Pipkins? He was targeted as a development player and never expected to help this year. Perhaps it was to extend Pouncy; how is that working out? The bolt's front office (led by TT) biggest FA moves were letting a talented WR walk and acquiring an aging linebacker. The entire 2019 draft was primarily defense that have been ineffective or developmental offensive players. Lynn may be a scapegoat, and probably will go before TT. I say: If Rivers comes back, keep the team in place and put everyone on notice that this is the year, or else. If Rivers retires, then clean house with a new GM and let the coaches reapply to keep their jobs.

The problem is they need to draft OL successfully, which they have not, and not draft development types when you need starters as badly as they do. Cap management had everything to do with not pursuing TW in FA......he simply priced himself out of a spot, and good on him for doing so. TT/Bolts seem very cautious about FA signings, and generally I like that, but they have such a huge need in OL they will have to take some risks to fix it. If Rivers returns, go all in on fixing the OL......if Rivers retires, do exactly as you posted.....but add in J Spanos in the firings.

Thats cool... Just keep holding on to that oline excuse, eventually this excuse will be replaced with another one till PR actually does retire. Maybe we'll keep losing enough for a decent draft slot. PR is also one of those excuses, sorry to break it to you.

If Rivers returns, go all in ... I support that. Superbowl or bust! Give PR one more chance at a ring. He deserves the opportunity to be on that big stage.

I think this too looks past the broader problems. It’s the OL, certainly. But it’s also Rivers — always tough, but almost always flustered in the playoffs and key games. And it’s also coaching. When playing those games against the better teams, such as in the PO's, those teams exploit the weaknesses. If Rivers is considered the 'weakness' that needs to be exploited, it stands that the OL is the most important aspect impeding that exploitation. It has been said many times, get to Rivers, sack him, bump him, make him rush his throws, and you will likely win the game. I personally think that statement is accurate regardless of who the QB is. I am in no way exonerating Rivers' poor play, but he is a future HOF member, and certainly a franchise QB. TT needs to fix what needs fixing, and that is the poor talent in the OL group. Until that is accomplished, it won't matter who the QB is. The blame in my view follows as such: Injuries, lack of talent in the depth players, poor coaching. No single person is to shoulder the blame...... That sounds right to me, and I’d suggest that while Rivers is a HoF QB and has been a franchise QB, it’s at least possible that he isn’t what he used to be. Thus the other factors compound and may be resulting in other teams exploiting the OL, depth, and coaching to make Rivers do what he can’t (or can’t as often) anymore. But see too games in the past where he did have a line and just played manic ball, usually leading to misses or interceptions. Some of that is just who he is.

My only thought on this is that the things people bring up about Rivers are aspects that have been part of him his entire career. Yes there are better years, and worse years, but I just don't see a declining arm strength, or such things. Rivers seems as physically able today as he was 8-10 years ago. That said, it won't be much longer before we are writing posts that lament not having Rivers at QB, similar to the posts after LT retired. The really really good ones are just not easily replaced.....

Are we not going "all in" every year?

I think, in the final analysis, Bolts need to bring Rivers back with all of the pieces, or move on and suffer the 5-10 year rebuild that’s likely.
