Several posters have suggested the decision to fire Lynn was made long ago, so the four-game win streak to end the year was pointless in saving his job.
I truly believe Lynn would have been fired during our BYE week had it not been rescheduled for other teams' COVID convenience.
Just think, if we hadn't been screwed schedule-wise, we had a good break to make a coaching change and jump start our search for a new head coach.
And whoever the interim coach might've been, he probably would've used his time outs better... that could've meant some very different game results down the stretch.
Just imagine the what ifs!

I really think its gotta be somebody that will get butts in the stands... I'm still preparing for disappointment (again)... But I just don't see how they not go after a big name.
I can honestly see us hiring Adam Gase and then Marrone being brought in as OC and Crennell as DC... The history of ineptitude makes this impossible to predict.

With Meyer reportedly wanting 12 million a year, not a chance Spanos does that, so cross his name off. It would be nice if Spanos stayed out of it until the end, as in 'here is the guy you are to hire'....but who is running the hunt is questionable as it gets, so disappointment seems assured.

He said he got a text that Lynn was dismissed.
“I have learned so much from him and enjoyed my time with him,” Herbert said. “There’s a lot of uncertainty. You have to rely on the guys and the locker room and depend on them if we want to get better.”

Arthur Smith odds to become a head coach, via Sports Betting dot ag:
