Jason Garrett is the safe milquetoast choice. Has HC experience. No flash, no risk, can manage the ship. Won’t get you any excitement but not likely to shit the bed either. He’s Norv 2.0 Garrett is an experienced head coach who has CEO'd a team to a better than average win/loss record for ten years. Dean will give him a hard look. IMO, Garrett will only be as good as his coordinators. This choice could go either way.

I like the Daboll film clip. Coaches every position. Hands on. Demanding. Attack philosophy. Dean & Co need to talk to multiple candidates & solidify their picture of what they want - but don't screw around. Really top fit HCs won't stay on the market. Don't choke on salary, this isn't the right place to save money. We need our guy in place with time to select his staff from a quality pool and get everyone's heads together on player personnel, draft - FA- extensions, etc. Set up the 2021 season, OTAs, training camp, etc. There's a LOT of work ahead & our HC needs to be in place working on a Championship.

You make a good point about getting a guy in quick to solidify his staff. The thing that worried me about the # of interviews is something else you mentioned, “solidify their picture of what they want”. Great org’s don’t have to do that. They know what they want.

I hope they do. They need to select closest fit. You can pick at anyone, don't waste time on "maybe if". Find a guy that checks your most good boxes. Daboll works for me but I support comparison shopping as long as they're speedy & efficient.

I have seen the statement put out by Dean Spanos and now the statement by Anthony Lynn. This was the most amicable divorce I’ve ever seen. Kudos

Look, I don't know much about any of these coach candidates except what gets reported regarding their biography and what their current/past teams' statistics and such indicate.
Somewhere on here, a month or so ago, I posted that I want a coach who has (among other good traits!) a killer's mentality of playing to win and win big- not turtling and playing not to lose ala Lynn.
Now I don't know if Dabol is behind this, or perhaps it's McDermott the head coach, but I absolutely LOVED seeing the Bills piledrive the Patriots a few weeks ago- continuing to throw the ball (and score!) despite being up 20+ in the second half! The Bills had put up over 40 on a hapless Broncos team the week before and scored over FIDDY against the Dolphins last week. That's the take no prisoners approach I want!
So again, not knowing much else about Dabol, if he were to become our next head coach, I could get behind someone who plays to win and shows no mercy!

Following a recent report that the Jaguars were considering Urban Meyer as a head coaching candidate, the Chargers could be joining them on that list.
The Athletic's Bruce Feldman reports he's heard the Chargers "also have some interest in Urban Meyer for their head coaching vacancy."
Los Angeles' search for a new head coach is underway after the team fired Anthony Lynn on Monday following its 7–9 season.
On Saturday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Jacksonville had shown interest in Meyer, who allegedly was lining up staff and expecting to land the head coaching job. The report came two days before the Jaguars fired coach Doug Marrone, and no updates on Meyer's status with the team have since followed.

Meyer stepped down as Ohio State's head coach in 2018 after the Buckeyes' win over Washington in the Rose Bowl. In his seven seasons in Columbus, he led the program to one national championship and three Big Ten titles, amassing an 82–9 record.
Before being hired at Ohio State, Meyer led Florida to two national championships. He retired after the 2009 season and spent one season as an analyst for ESPN before stepping back into coaching.
Since his 2018 retirement, Meyer has served as a college football analyst for FOX.

There is a part of you that does feel bad. I mean I'm ruthless, but Anthony Lynn is a nice guy and is a professional. I wish him good luck. As much as he loves to mentor, I think he would be a good college coach.

Have you villagers ever seen him speak ? Your Emperor knows smart when he see's it. The guy is razor intelligent.
