What no welcome thread for the huge reach in the 3rd. Trey Pipkins, Sioux Falls, D-II. The resume of a 6th or 7th rounder in the 3rd.
Does this go down as another Watt, Tuerk pick? Can TT assess oline men?
We’ve now gone Delaware in the 2nd and Sioux Falls in the 3rd. Someone send an ambulance to the Emperor’s temporary palace

I'm just glad the guy went to a "college". I thought Sioux Falls was a casino and amusement park. Come to think of it, I am amused so,,,,,,,,,,,

I think TT makes these picks on purpose just to annoy the fans...

Waiting until the 3rd rd is how one ends up drafting players like this, yet I like the pick. Look, all of the OT's still available had some negative issue, except Pipkins. His issue is being raw and his being successful against questionable talent, but neither of which are a negative flaw needing to be fixed. Pipkins has all of the physical aspects, moves really well, right demeanor (meaning he is receptive to coaching), all of which adds up to a solid prospect at a position that really needed help. Coaches hate 'fixing' players, and love 'developing' players.....Pipkins doesn't need fixing, just developing.

It'll help that he gets to practice against Boss, Ingram, Nwosu, and picking up blitzes from James.

I think he gonna go LT eventually after Okung. Look for TT to get another RT this draft.

I would be wary of predicting too much at this point, but I do think TT and staff projected Pipkins' talent out to future LOT. I think the scout did a great job, and would suspect that writeup on Pipkins started a serious process of comparisons with OT's....both at the college level and the NFL level. Very very shrewd pick in my view. Yes, I agree.....TT will still try for a ROT, and probably happen in the first two picks today.

Someone send an ambulance to the Emperor’s temporary palace so far 5 years in TT has proven he sucks at assessing Olinemen. This is a huge reach. Even if the kid is decent it is a premium pick so he's suppose to be 'decent'. looks like a project for multiple years before we see the result.

Pipkins was a dominant OT vs higher rated DL/Edge all stars at the Shrine game. There's a learning curve for all rookies. Trey should come along as well as most athletic 6-6, 305 OTs with good feet.

Way too early for the doom and gloom. Not sure why when your team is picking late each round people expect a some big name? Sounds to me the kid is raw with a huge upside. I'd say let se how they do in TC. If he makes the squad you have to say depth at a minimum got better. if he starts, then we are gold

Interesting: Pipkins grew from 5’11” to 6’6” over a four month period between his junior and senior years in high school, but he only put on about 15 pounds during that time to weigh 235 pounds.. He had never played oline before that senior season. His Mom played basketball at University of Iowa and he grew up playing hoops.
The very late growth spurt helps explain his D-2 status after graduation.
