Over drafted, or reach, by your rankings...... I do acknowledge that your rankings are shared by many of the talking heads, which is probably where you got your rankings.
I do not hate the OL......I do have a critical eye, and I see plenty of need in the OL group. I do not dislike Okung, I do think he is close to the end, and there is nobody in the system that comes close to his play. Losing Okung would be disastrous. Pouncy falls into this same category, but perhaps Quiz is a viable OC, but losing Pouncy would not be as bad as losing Okung, but still not be good. Quiz is no Pouncy.... LG, RG and ROT all need to be addressed..... Tevi at ROT, we saw that..... Feeney at LG, we saw that..... Lamp...where ? If Lamp hasn't lost the talent needed due to his injury, where does he play ? Boltnut thinks ROT.....maybe, maybe not. Pipkins, where does he fit in, if at all ? Who knows at this point, but I like the pick. I do think TT made a mistake in using a pick on a QB we do not need. That pick should have been OL, probably an OG. TC 2019 will see plenty of opportunity for UDFA OL players, wonder why that is..... What was your pre-draft ranking ? None. Because you had never heard of him.
Everybody in Mock listed name after name after name on this Board. Did ANYONE have him listed ? What round did they list him ?
But now we lovey dovey him iN THE THIRD ROUND ? C'mon man. I'm WAY smarter than that. I thought you were to. Don't disappoint me.
Yep, never had him on my list of possibilities for OT. I read some about him after he was chosen, and really like the approach the club took. He is the only OT that had no negative aspects that needed fixing. His issue was being raw, and untested against top end talent. All other aspects about him were positives. So in essence TT drafted an OT with plenty of positive, some unknowns, and no negatives. Will Pipkins develop into anything at the NFL level, who knows, but clearly somebody with the Bolts thinks he can. Another OL player in this 'raw with a ton of potential' was Hjalte Froholdt OG taken by the Pats 4th rd pick 118.......3rd, 4th and 5th rds teams are looking for, and taking chances, on players such as these. I applaud TT for the pick, let us hope he becomes awesome.

That also means that you weakly tried to prove me wrong by looking it up. Dose of reality to find out I was correct.
Never doubt me. Ever.
Nope, never looked up anything......I just think TT has really gone off the reservation with this pick in the eyes of the pundits that know all. I think Pipkins was just not hyped much, yet my guess is the clubs knew.....which is why TT had to use the 3rd, he wasn't making it to late 4th.

The call from the Chargers completed an unlikely journey for Pipkins. Last season, he played games against the likes of Winona State, Bemidji State and Upper Iowa...................SWEET DAY OF THE MORNING !!!! The only thing higher than his weight is my blood pressure. Who did HOFer Larry Allen play against his senior season at Sonoma State??? And Jimmy Johnson reached for him in the 2nd round!!! Oh, my heart palpitations!!!! One never knows. Who did Gates play against his last year in college....... you just never know.

Here's who the 2-7 Sonoma State squad played against during the 1993 season when they featured a future HOF offensive guard on their line who was truly one of the all-time greats:
Weber State St. Mary's Cal State Northridge Cal Poly UC Davis Cal State Hayward Humboldt State Chico State San Francisco State
I count five colleges on that schedule (St. Mary's, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Hayward, Chico State and San Francisco State) who no longer field football teams. Talk about a tough schedule!!
One never knows. I don't know Pipkins from Adam, but I'm not writing him off simply due to his background.
*** I forgot to add that Sonoma State no longer has a football program either, so the entire former Northern California Athletic Conference are out of the football business.

C'mon Freak - this happens every year.
They pick someone that we don't know much about or maybe we do and we don't think he's a good pick. Maybe we like him but think we could have still found him on the board 3 rounds later. And so, when the pick is made we moan and groan and say TT doesn't know what he's doing. Then, after the draft we begin to read good things about him, TT explains why they liked him and suddenly we turn into fans of the guy we were moaning about. Nothing new here.

Freak used to shake his head at Sammy small school.
Now he is openly hostile.
I actually am enjoying it.

Telesco & Whisenhunt, of course. Others in attendance who liked what they saw of Pipkins included Paul Guilamette - Trey was a "Shrine Game All Star" and Emory Hunt, in interview" I didn't see you lose a single rep" in practice. Apparently he wasn't looking at the right moments. Betts wouldn't surprise me, he reportedly beat everyone he faced. No doubt somewhat an exaggeration also but I gather that he was an eye opener. I'll go with the Chargers' staff assessment. I have no reason to do otherwise. Actual performance in the coming months will give a stronger basis for fan evals. Well, you can watch the game for yourself... Pipkins plays @ 24:10 - 47:00 on the tape if you don't want to watch the whole game. The Brailford excerpt occurs between 28:25 - 31:55. Pipkins plays again from 1:41:50 - 1:52:30 later in the game. And like I said, it's not all bad. You can see the athleticism. Just don't expect him to displace Okung any time soon. He probably won't even be an upgrade over Tevi this coming season. Thanks! It was a mixed bag. He was beaten twice by a rip, seemed to tick him off since he pancakes his guy next down. He moves well. IMO his success or failure will be the result of his level of dedication to training. Good raw material, good size, feet & athleticism.

If the player is good, I don't care if he's Sammy Small. I will root for him harder than anyone.
My biggest problem is anyone daring, double daring even, to try to tell me he wasn't overdrafted, when he most certainly was.
I could be ok with that even. Hey, TT was scared Pipkins wasn't going to be there in the 15th round, so he grabbed him ! Fine, groovy, whatever.
He is still overdrafted.

NFL Translation: Rivers got killed, and the tackle got an angry penalty on the next play.
Can't wait.

Over drafted is a relative term.......we all think Pipkins was taken a round too soon, maybe more, but clearly TT felt different. If Pipkins becomes a solid starter for years, we all look pretty foolish, if he busts, TT takes the hit. The guys that get paid to make these evaluations made their call.....3rd rd it is, hoping they are right.

Pipkins is a bust.
He is the new Lamp. Or is he?...Disc likes him. hmm.. maybe we can move him to safety.
If anything we should be worried about our 1st round pick. Will he be a day one starter?
