Pipkens has to play RT, he's right footed.
His slide kick is super fast from knocking out the tumble weeds in wind storms.
(I'm only getting warmed up on the Sammy Small School folks...........)

I like the thought process that was used to determine Pipkins was the guy to take.........I have no idea if Pipkins will become what they are hoping for. I figure we should call everyone a bust until they prove otherwise. That way we will never be disappointed. We are out of chill pills..... That would equate to falling off the other side of the horse...... My thought is we just stay on the horse and hope to figure out how to get the horse to do what we want.

I have no idea whether Pipkins will be a "bust" or not. Nobody does. Not even TT. But what I can tell you is he was a reach that was taken before OT's that can help their teams this year. Jets took Chuma Edoga who will push Brandon Shell as starter at RT this year... and likely replace him next year. The Rams took Bobby Evans who will replace Andrew Whitworth next year. He will be NFL ready enough to play if Whitworth or Havenstein go down to injury. The Patriots took Yodny Cajuste that will push Marcus Cannon this year... and likely replace him next year. Jets: Kelvin Beachum, Brandon Shell, Chuma Edoga. Rams: Andrew Whitworth, Rob Havenstein, Bobby Evans, David Edwards Patriots: Isaiah Wynn, Marcus Cannon, Yodny Cajuste Chargers: Russell Okung, Sam Tevi, Trey Pipkins Okung's (78.4) contract ends in 2 years. That's a lot of ground to cover for Pipkins... My fingers are crossed in regards to TT's gamble. The bold seems contradictory......you don't know, but then you do know. Your belief that 'other OT's will help their respective teams this year' is just based off of the expectations after your evaluations of their abilities, which is exactly what is going on with the Bolts and their pick in Pipkins. My thought is missing on evaluations happens, not a lot, but enough. Any time a GM goes away from the group think, 'reach' gets thrown out there. I would like to believe the Bolts do not feel Pipkins was a 'reach'. Would they have liked to get him in the 4th, no doubt, but they also made the decision he would not be there so they acted. If the Bolts were correct (no way to know this) in that Pipkins would have been drafted somewhere between their 3rd rd pick and their 4th rd pick, then I would contend that there isn't too much 'reach' going on. If you add Lamp to your OT list of Okung/Tevi/Pipkins it seems like a reasonable number of OT's.......throw in a few UDFA's for camp, and hope there are solutions waiting to be found.

Either the FO thinks that the aforementioned OTs are not going to be better than Tevi, or Lamp is moving to RT. I'm leaning towards the former. A) Not really feeling a lot of confidence in our FO right now. B) Almost anyone would be better than Tevi right now. C) Praying/hoping/performing archaic rituals/dances/sacrifices that the latter is true. #Free Woodeye #Free Lamp A = understandable B = clearly hyperbole C = let us hope, but not limit it to ROT only. your hashtags are misinformed...... Lamp has been cleared to play for quite awhile now, and Woodmod can show up any time he desires.

I wasn't real happy with the third or fifth round picks. Not that I think the players are bad, but because they aren't likely to help this years team make a SB run. We could have added another good DT in the third, perhaps a WR or CB in the fifth. The picks TT made in those rounds were picks for the future and we were pretty close to the big dance last year so I think those picks should have been made to improve this years team.

I suspect he just enjoys TPB's more than here......which is perfectly acceptable.

I do not agree with you on the Pipkins pick, as OT needed to be drafted/addressed in some fashion. I do agree about the 5th rd pick, as QB is not a position needing help. OG would have been a better choice in my view.

Regardless of your answer, I ask how do you know ? Nothing on Okung. I have said from the beginning, Lamp is an NFL Guard. TT keeps teasing this Tackle proposition. Lynn probably told him if need be he can be a tackle, just to get him the hell out of his office.
I suspect Tevi is the better Tackle, and they want Lamp to push for starting guard, starting right guard.
