Not buying it, I think the Cards are committed to Rosen and its all draft lies. If they go Rosen, then they need to trade down and collect draft picks. They have too many holes to fill. Figure on how many Blue Chip players there are. Pretend there are 7 Blue Chip players. Trade the number 1 down to only the next 6 teams in the draft. You get extra picks, and still land a blue chip player. Genius

If you want to bring in another QB to compete then wait till the later rounds.

Forest Lamp, #28, #60 & # 130 for Josh Rosen and #33. #33 (first pick day 2) can be traded for a late two and a three. We would still have three of the top 100 picks, to be used to address ORT, DT, and LB. It makes sense, given this drafts depth at our positions of need. Rosen would be ready to go, and due for a new, long term contract, right when Rivers retires.

I am most interested in seeing how well TT drafts QB's when the time comes... Will he be a one and done stike it rich first try GM, or are we going to be the next Miami Dolphins struggling to replace a legend??? Its a scary thought for when the QB talk gets serious...

No, actually Pac, I was hoping for Shimmy...now, regarding Mr. Jones...uh, there was a time quite a while back where, in a moment of weakness, and after witnessing Rivers forcing the rock into coverage for multiple picks and losing us games, I did consider giving Cardale a shot...at least for a game or so...I now realize it was unwise at the time...but interesting comments by Lynn...maybe he sees some upside in Jones that we don't... No worries, right now it's Rivers and whoever else. We've got another three years at least with the old cowboy.

What pacstud just said in the post above- Rivers is still playing at a high level and appears to have at least two more years of this, so drafting his successor (or trading for one) isn't the best way to improve this team to win NOW and may be a distraction or take the spot or salary cap space of a player who could be added to help now!

My proposed trade above, while quite whimsical, would cover all things well.
Rosen would sit ala Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes.
He would be ready, with the 5th year club option, for a new contract, right when PR retires.
Our giving up a round 1,2,4 & Forrest Lamp would be countered by still getting two 2's and a 3.
We could still address the specific needs of "...the most complete team in the NFL," while setting ourselves up to have Phil's successor in place, and plenty of working capital to build a team around Josh Rosen.

I think Chargerfreak has the right idea - send AL for donuts while discussing a QB. Thanks for the laugh Chargerfreak.

Wow, that's a lot to give up, Wood. And I'd at least like to see how Lamp does with a full TC and healthy. I'd hate to deal him away and he plays solid for someone else...

Or like that laughable mess of a movie, "Draft Day," when the GM and his accountant girlfriend do all the drafting and trades, while the coach, OC, DC and scouts all sit around looking like a bunch of dummy props on the set... COSTNER (as GM): "Who do we need?" GIRLFRIEND: "Special teams!" COSTNER: "Right, draft so-and-so, he's good for special teams"
Yeah, right....

Are you saying Lamp is not a bust...cool. Otherwise, I am sure you are seeing DTs, ORTs and LBs, all three, in the mid rounds. Rounds 5,6,7 we can get your funky DBs.

One can only hope the Iron Fist comes down hard and puts an end to the employment of both Jones and Smith. Rolling with a complete unknown UDFA as the back up to Rivers would get the same results as having either Smith or Jones......losing.
