There is nothing wrong with having 2 first round or 2 second round or 3 third round picks Different conversation, but yeah, nothing wrong. We have an established roster with a mix of young, medium, and old, but hey----lets throw that out in a fire sale and completely rebuild.
Don't let injuries get in your head. TT will never change the long term plan. Never. We're injured, not the Dolphins. That is all.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not advocating anything at this point other than "wait". Its too early to me to say we are done and getting a top 5, nor do I know how much impact it will be getting a few starters back. Reality says we are not getting too many so there's that. Is it worth looking at a trade for a OL or DL? Hell Yes. Pulling the trigger? not ready to me. Cthommes would pull the trigger. He carries a loaded weapon for crying out loud.

Is this where I remind that we should have gone ALL IN. Powerful free agents galore, and we would not have been injured. (I have no idea, but you can't prove me wrong. HA. Genius.) This is actually well done. Kudos. Nominated POTD.
I really enjoyed that one. Viva La France !!!!

We ain't getting more than a Twinkie for Gordon. He's damaged goods and a UFA after this season, who will get a stark reality check about his market value and the fact that he's already received his best offer -- and ain't gunna get it again. The only players that have trade value are going to be young, key components to the rebuild process. James, Allen. Henry, etc. Stand pat and build around what we've got to build around. Or become the Dolphins. Building around a certain core is the only approach......and why I posted this in another thread. It mainly addresses the weakness' found on the offence side, but does get a ILB to address that weakness. Yes, defence might still need help, but I do believe losing DJ was incredibly huge loss. I will commit to Rivers, Ekler/JJ, and KA/MW, and HH......then fix the OL by drafting the following: RD 1......Alaric Jackson OT RD 2.....Malik Harrison ILB RD 3.....Saahdig Charles OT RD 4.....T J McCoy OC RD 5.....Damien Lewis OG RD 6.....Christian Rector Edge RD 7.....Jordon Scott DL1T I would add even more OL via FA if the deal appeared wise. (I am quite cautious about FA's, but this OL needs fixing now, not three years from now)

Spooky. Backward lateral passes that go for defense touchdowns galore. Can't wait for kickoff.

TT made good decisions on those options, regardless of how things play out the rest of season.

I’m confused with the rumors of teams still going after Gordon. If they plan on letting Gordon walk in FA and don’t plan on signing him for more money, why wouldn’t the FO just trade him for some value? What are they expecting out of this? That the market will not be there for Gordon? Or that Gordon will resign for what they offer?

So if we get a good comp pick for MG leaving in free agency, that would mean TT once again didn't do much to get free agents into LAC. I'd much rather get a crappy comp pick because we actually signed 3-5 veteran Offensive linemen!

I'd much rather get a crappy comp pick because we actually signed 3-5 veteran Offensive linemen! That's the right track. It is so complicated and the NFL has actually never released their formula for it.
I believe it then goes by salary, which is good for us. If a team signs Gordon for 10-13 million etc, do you see TT matching that by paying a free agent that much ? Start with no, and then end with no, because he's not going to. He likes Teamer's current pay.

I would go into tank mode for this season. Chargers can be good in one to two years and have some really talented guys so it's not a full rebuild like Miami or Cleveland. But a few extra mid-late round picks would be nice. Teams aren't great at evaluating talent so getting more picks improves the chances of lucking into a good player. Finally, I wouldn't totally be opposed to letting Rivers walk. Between Gordon, him, and the cap going up another $10,000,000 that's a decent chunk of change to spend in FA. If the Chargers get a top 5 pick they can have the advantage of a cost-controlled QB for the rest of Keenan Allen's, Joey Bosa's, Melvin Ingram's, and Derwin James' contracts. It will help them fill out the rest of their roster or at least hold onto those guys. Hopefully, even if it's a miss on that QB, they can be the Bears. If they hit, then they can be the Eagles or Rams.

TT should play that a bit slowly......as deadline gets near, teams will come calling with better return.....in theory. I wonder just how big a difference exists between MG's belief in his own value, versus what the GM's think. Substantial is my guess.
