I am not against bringing in a new coach at the end of the season if they don’t have a winning record, but I can’t stomach Urban Meyer. 🤢 Yes, he got results in the college setting, but for me it goes back to his willingness to his Barry Switzerish willingness to provide safe harbor for a lot of bad human beings. Switzer wasn’t a good NFL coach, he inherited a massively talented Cowboys team that Jimmuh built & went downhill as the talent left / retired. Urban Meyer is a alot different than Switzer and our Chargers are nowhere near the 90's Cowboys, but I do get your point. We still have a GM with a set philosophy, so I'm not worried about bad apples... Urban Meyer has a winning record, that's all I care about. Urban Meyer won at 3 different universities at the highest levels.

The below list is from CBS Sports. It's their section of potential offensive linemen that may be trade-able. With the current state of the Chargers O-line, shouldn't we try to wrangle one or two of these guys to protect our young superstar QB??? Ignoring for the moment any salary cap complications, I think Scherff from Washington and either ( both!?!) of the Vikings listed would be worth a reasonable offer. Maybe even some of the others- any of them should be better than the entire right side of our o-line combined. OG Joe Thuney (Patriots)
OG Brandon Scherff (Washington)
OT Riley Reiff (Vikings)
C Alex Mack (Falcons)
OG Kevin Zeitler (Giants)
OG Andrew Norwell (Jaguars)
OG James Carpenter (Falcons)
OG Billy Price (Bengals)
OG Pat Elflein (Vikings)
It's not often you find so many starting-caliber linemen potentially on the market. Most, if not all, come with a cost, but if you're desperate for reinforcements up front, guys like Thuney, Scherff and Mack can still offer top-level production.

I'd give our 3rd (since TT likes doing that so much), and grab Scherff, Reiff, or Mack. The problem with TT is that he is terrible at drafting oline, we almost have to make a trade like this to get a decent line.

How did they do in the NFL? As I recall, they went scurrying back to the college game in short order after not finding success in the very different animal that is the NFL. There aren't many Jimmy Johnsons floating around, and I am just turned off by the sleaze factor that Meyer brings wherever he goes. We shall see.

There are no sure things but the Chargers have only had success is when they have hired a head coach who succeeded at another team as a head coach or in college as a head coach. They’ve hired numerous coordinators and failed head coaches over the years but the profile for what they need is consistent. Maybe they can’t identify a good coordinator. I don’t know.

Little to support. 4 losses by one score might be little. Its all I have. But if you only ask for little, I'll deliver something. Your point is well taken—and would be a better indicator if it was another team. I’d argue that 9 losses the same way last season and having Anthony Lynn’s staff still in chargeof these close games means we will usually not lose by much. But we will lose. We could have turned this year's L's into W's with the reduction of a player error or two per game given the same coaching. They MIGHT decide they would like to win. This is not the 2019 team. I wouldn't bet either way.
They might continue to screw up, might not. I'm kinda high on Herbert leading the offense and the young DTs cleaning up their act.

Badgely’s miss against NO was an L we shouldn’t have. 3-3 would feel pretty different to 2-4 going into Denver

It only makes sense to draft this guy... One thing I look for is second level blocking. His is good AND at times he blocks first level and second level on the same play. That's talent.
