Holy shit.... Spanos is pooping his pants. Hurts passed Rodgers and will make 51 million dollars a year. That's how this works. The next one has to top the previous one now. Herbert should make Burrows go next. 52, 53, etc etc

From what I've been hearing/reading, it doesn't matter what Herbert's record is in the playoffs every big payday raises the price for him.

This organization is not talented enough to build a roster around a QB, especially one that takes up a huge chunk of cap space.
This team will be in purgatory small school sammy hell for years to come...
We made it to the Superbowl with Stan Humphries, get a game manager and build the roster.

I would honestly trade Herbert... I have spoken. I appreciate your take and I hope others don't "attack" this take just because they disagree. I am in the opposite camp however, and I wish we would hurry up and sign Herbert to his 50 million dollar per year extension before it increases to 55 or 60! But I would give him the big bucks that the QB market commands (and the RB market does not) because I believe it is the priority position for the entire football team. Meaning, if 21 of the starters were very good but the QB sucks, the team would lose more than it wins. Conversely, a great QB can make up for the rest of team being average. He's worth the money. Pay him and build this team to win with him!

If Staley is such a defensive guru then load up on defensive super stars and roll the dice. By no means do I expect them to trade Herbert btw.

The Ravens won their first Super Bowl title in a 34–7 blowout, which saw Dilfer complete 12 of 25 passes for 153 yards and one touchdown. Although one of Dilfer's passes was intercepted by linebacker Jessie Armstead and returned for a touchdown, the play was negated due to a holding penalty against the Giants

And that is why trading Herbert would be idiotic.
The league favors a potent passing attack and lock down run defense. Pass defense is hit or miss with the rule changes. The 2000 ravens would be an 10 and 7 team at best. and would loose to KC, Bengals and the Bolts. Ed reed, T-Sizzle and Ray Ray would give up so much penalty yards.
Ray would probably also be canceled and banned from the NFL.
