Desertswo was a huge Laurel Canyon buff whose historical knowledge of the era sparked my interest to learn more about it. This should be a great film that opens Memorial Day weekend: I will definitely check this out. LA was teeming with music. Remember the "Wrecking Crew"...?

And then you follow up with a couple of Muscle Shoals clips!! You are a man that would have loved desertswo’s knowledge & passion for 60’s-70’s rock/R&B/Blues, etc! At a restaurant with the family, so will need to relisten to all when I get home. Yeah, that Muscle Shoals documentary might be my favorite music-related film ever. For anyone that likes that soulful, rock/R&B, you gotta see that film.

Disc is the dude with Jason's goalie mask wielding a machete and Sandolf is the dude who is utilizing Shamrock's cattle prod to get some of the crowd to jump higher. Do I win???

I thought that I had quoted you on my last post Nutty, but apparently not. Anyhoo, you got me to watch The Wrecking Crew documentary again tonight, and something hit me like a lightning bolt: The producer, director and narrator of the film is the son of the guitarist of: Tommy Tedesco
Am absolutely fascinating behind the scenes look at a big chunk of the music era at that special moment in time. At the end of the film, Denny Tedesco notes that his father wrote and appeared on this show noting the end of an era that will never be repeated:

A very interesting film especially because the “swampers” were all white and cut some of the most influential r&b records in history

A very interesting film especially because the “swampers” were all white and cut some of the most influential r&b records in history There was a certain irony in the fact that Motown, an African-American owned label cut record that were tailored more to the white market than the white swampers of Muscle Shoals, whose music was aimed more at the African-American market. I once borrowed a multi-disc compilation of the Muscle Shoals records from one of our public libraries. Great music.

This club will hopefully
Be closed in three weeks
That would be cool with me
Well, I'm still imagining A dark lit place Or your place or my place Well, I'm not paralyzed But, I seem to be struck by you I wanna make you move Because you're standing still If your body matches What your eyes can do You'll probably move right through Me on my way to you

One of the bands I would have liked to have seen in concert but didn't was the Tragically Hip..... This thread continues to be very Canadian, I have seen them a few times.....great live band and a lot of fun. Gord Downie (RIP) is quite a character on stage and remains a Canadian legend.

Music generally transcends race with the exception of country.
