Alright, here's a couple of curveballs for y'all to start me off in this thread: Mike (DesertSWO) really got me into doing research on some of my favorite bands and musicians from the 60's, 70's and 80's. We got pretty deep into Dire Straits' lead man Mark Knopfler's evolution over the years. The first video is when he got heavily into American country roots style of guitar playing following the breakup of Dire Straits. It is Chet Atkins' special from the late 80's when many heavyweight "real" country stars paid homage to Chet's contributions to the music industry over the decades: Everyly Brothers, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson along with Michael McDonald thrown into the mix. Pay special attention to Knopfler & Atkins guitar accompaniments. Another highlight is the Everly Brothers performing Dire Straits' "Why Worry Now" from the Brothers in Arms album. [EDIT] Damn, this one has been removed from Youtube recently. I'll have to see if I can find another source. Anyhoo, here's the Everly Brothers performing "Why Worry Now: The second video is "A Night in London" that was filmed about the time when Knopfler's solo album "Golden Heart" was released. This outstanding mix of musicianship featured a mixture of his Dire Straits material, traditional Country, Cajun, and Irish/Gaelic music. Magic stuff!! Enjoy!!

I will be exactly opposite of most here. I personally would prefer to hear a "good" new song that I've only heard perhaps a dozen times than a "great" song that I've heard a thousand times, I guess I have A.D.D. To me music is like technology, it has the capability to get better every year. But ... here is my decades favorite music: 80's Motley Crue 90's Stone Temple Pilots 00's System of a Down Now Hollywood Undead

Led Zeppelin has always been my favourite. Loved KISS in the '70's and I'm finally going to see them play next month. My parents, God love them, let me go to a Rush concert in grade 4 and a Queen concert in grade 6. My uncle was a lawyer who represented bands who played here and was usually given tickets to the shows.

Might have seen the stixs. Van Halen was the worst. Roth came out so drunk he forgot song lyrics and never finished the concert. Eddie and the band saved it by playing some great jams. Mostly all instrumental once Roth was lead off stage.

Loved KISS in the '70's and I'm finally going to see them play next month. I’ve seen them 4 times, and will be taking my kids to see them this summer. I was hoping they would tour a little longer, so my kids would be a bit older when I eventually took them to a show, but I guess Father Time won that battle. Regardless of what anyone thinks about the music, the live show is incredible...
