Ian Rappaport tweeted that Tyrod Taylor has agreed to terms with the Chargers on a 2 year deal.
My initial reaction is that I love this signing over what we have right now. People react!

Here's my liking with the signing.
Tyrod Taylor was there with Anthny Lynn at Bufflo (Familiarity) He has starting experience Definitely shows more potential over Geno Smith and Cardale Jones Proven to win some games over his career Not a starter but will benefit from being a backup and learning from Rivers

Now THIS is a backup QB. Finally the team could handle a game or two if Rivers is out.
In past years i have been terrified about the prospect of a Rivers injury. Don't get me wrong if Phil is out for the season it is over but Tyrod can handle a few games to keep us in it if necessary.

Starter QB. He could literally be our future starter. I SAID COULD. the other 2 never could. I said never. I was just having this conversation with someone. We agreed our future QB is not on the roster. Moreover, i expressed my fear that if PR were to go down, we were done. That just changed. Taylor can win games, definitely pinch hitting. Its a smart, smart, signing.

I like it!! Chargers set to sign QB Tyrod Taylor to two-year deal Kevin Patra Around the NFL Writer The Los Angeles Chargers landed Philip Rivers a veteran backup quarterback. NFL Network Ian Rapoport reported that Tyrod Taylor agreed to a two-year contract with the Chargers, per a source informed of the deal. The Chargers were in the market for a backup to Rivers after spending the 2018 season with Geno Smith in that position. Cardale Jones was also on the roster. L.A. could still be in the market for a young developmental backup as the eventual replacement whenever Rivers walks away from football. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn knows Taylor well, having spent two seasons together in Buffalo. Taylor started 46 games over the past four seasons with the Bills and Browns, including three last season before being replaced by Baker Mayfield in Cleveland. While he was an up-and-down, full-time starter in Buffalo for three seasons, Taylor represents high-end backup insurance for the Chargers. Signing in L.A. to play behind Rivers, who hasn't missed a start since taking over in 2006, signals that there wasn't much interest in teams signing Taylor to compete for a starting gig. Inking with a potential Super Bowl contender, however, is a stellar destination. The Miami Dolphins were one possible landing spot rumored for Taylor to compete for a starting gig. Instead, the 29-year-old will head to a different warm-weather destination on the coast to caddie for Rivers. amp.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001022424/article/chargers-set-to-sign-qb-tyrod-taylor-to-twoyear-deal?remove_shell&type=ios&aid=&mcid=23947955925854250850571145986393813352&reportSuite=nflmobilephoneapp&siteSubsection=featured&optimizedFor=AMP

We haven't had anyone who could fill in and give confidence to fans since the days where we had Drew Brees and Rivers on the team. Unless I'm missing someone, please name another back up QB who has that pedigree that Taylor has as a backup on the Chargers? I will wait.

Good signing. Backup QB got better at a good price. He'll make the OTAs & TC a better experience for those not working with Rivers.

Wouldn't mind seeing some Taysom Hill type of packages for Tyrod to mix up our offense a little. We shall see...

Props to Tyrod for landing the cushiest job around! But if something crazy did happen to PR, this squad could win with Tyrod.

Tyrod Taylor buys us additional time in our pursuit of Rivers' heir apparent.
Like everyone else stated, I'm more comfortable with him taking the reigns at QB should Rivers expect his 10th child and needs some paternity leave.
