Bridge to the future. Competent backup that can start if necessary as they look for PR’a eventual replacement. Probably means they aren’t going QB this year, but plan to do so next year -2020. If they get one next year, Tyrod probably walks after 2020. If not, keep him around as River’s heir apparent while the QB search continues.

Okay, now I call bs. Show me where it is said, and who said, that TyRod is smarter than Geno. Or Cardale. Okay, so I went ahead and looked it up. If by smarter, you mean making better decisions and not throwing picks, then Taylor clearly has the edge over Geno. Look at career stats for both on TD to Int. ratio: Taylor: 53 TD's, 20 picks, QBR 89.6
Smith: 29 TD's, 36 picks, QBR 72.7 Cardale has very little stat-wise, but we all know from a couple of preseasons how awful he is at throwing a lot of picks...
By 'smarter' I meant he makes better decisions during the stress of play, resulting in better outcomes. My post was simply my opinion of the player, nothing more. ltocbolts is just looking to discredit anything I post.....nothing more.

$6 mil , is there a chance Lynn has an open comp for starting job? I don’t know cap numbers but seems high for a back up?

Wouldn’t be surprised if the Chargers are thinking of running some packages for him like the Saints have been doing with Hill.

Tyrod Taylor signed a 2 year, $11,000,000 contract with the Los Angeles Chargers, including $6,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $5,500,000. In today's market, for such a quality backup, sounds about right for our new #2 depth chart QB.

Those Saints plays seemed kind of gimmicky, but i never looked to see if they were successful on average. It doesn't seem like our style though. Who knows. I think it'd be worth a try.

A playoff experienced backup QB with massive mobility...imagine that.

IMO that is one of the problems with Whis and his scheme; hes not creative enough. Patriots-Chiefs-Rams-Saints all have coaches that are creative enough to have the upper hand on offense. You never see any mis-direction whith Whis, and Rivers is terrible at fake hand offs.

I don't quite understand this move by TT. A lot of cap wasted for a guy who most likely never sees the field - that money could have gone towards a valuable FA addition. We go as far as Rivers takes us.
As much as I dislike Bortles, he would have been a much better value for the price point at which the Rams acquired him.
Call me unimpressed by TT in FA so far. Need another great draft to improve this off season.
