I think you might be on to something, but I would put it this way....Poor coaching created poor effort, resulting in a lost season. As far as this perceived 'narrative' you mention, clearly it is a generalized statement about the roster. Herbert, James, Mack....are all star talent. None of this discussion means there will be a losing season ahead, but it is my view that far too many things need to go right for the success all want.Every team is in that same position. To a degree, yes it is so. There are different levels of need in this area though, one must admit. The favorite to win the Super Bowl still must have things go right, but they are the favorite for a reason.

They are higher rated at HC, QB, slightly at WR and OL. We're better at RB. They're better at DL, DBs, We are better at LB, probably STs.
I'd like to revisit these ratings at season's end. I suspect their projected superiority may not be as clear.

They ran a terrific defensive scheme in the postseason. But the offseason is for plotting against that.

Do the ratings not change week to week, as success or failure impact belief, or injuries impose their will on any club's destiny? There are 32 clubs, how far down from the top, the favorite to win SB, does the betting world have the Chargers? Freak would know this......

They also have the refs on their side... When you lead the league in offensive holding and then get zero calls in the Superbowl, something is likely amiss. They are a budding "dynasty" that the NFL is all on board with which gives us a bigger hill to climb. They also have Taylor Swift... The NFL isn't finished milking that cow.

Man I hate holding calls, as there is holding on every single play. Rule change, let the OL/DL hold within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage.....eliminates a bunch of those sketch calls.

Those odds will change during the year. KC is 6-1. SF is 6.5 to 1

Dear heavens !!! Pipkins would just tackle a defender and lay on him !!!! Yes, there might need to be a clearer definition of what holding might actually look like. For instance, one OL player with a handful of jersey of two different DL players would still be holding. Never going to happen, NFL likes the control of outcome, eh
