Not a very good night for the NBA last night: A bad couple of days. In addition to your list, there was the Klay Thompson fan-blaming; and did you see the owner of the Knicks interaction with the fan? Where the fan says "sell the team" -- and then the owner has security take his name and revoke his seats. LOL at having a professional sports owner on mike saying: "Have fun watching the NBA only from your couch from now on, buddy!" I admire the NBA almost as much as you admire the NFL, Chops. Dolan is definitely unfit to be an Owner, and the fan is right, he should sell...but I’m glad he won’t. His gross incompetence is a part of why the Knicks are who they are, and it’s nice having at least 1 sport where an NYC based team is irrelevant. The Klay situation is just hilarious. I guess he’s just getting in a few shots before he jumps ship in a few months.

Regarding the Westbrook situation, I think his second to last sentence is key....we haven’t seen footage of the entire situation. To me, both sides have made a pretty good statement with their side of the story, the problem is, the part of the situation not on video is what would make the difference. The fan was interviewed, and stated he said “go ice your knees bro, you can use it”...sure enough Westbrook is seen standing up yelling towards them with an ice pack strapped to each knee. It’s possible the fan was lying, and if so, he came up with a pretty good one. But it’s also possible that Russell misheard things, and severely overreacted. He had an incident last week where a young fan on the sideline gave him a light shove, so I think his patience with opposing fans is running thin as it is. I hope the footage of the entire situation surfaces, as I’d love to see what really happened (especially if it results in a suspension that runs through next week ) Now that the fan’s social media posts are out there m with Westbrook.

The Jazz banned the fan from games. Westbrook fined $25,000. Not just banned from games, but from all events held at the arena ! I gotta say, I’m kinda surprised how quickly these judgements were issued, and makes me wonder how thorough of an investigation was done. More specifically, did any video evidence come forward that showed the entire incident ? Were their possibly witnesses that came forward (so quickly) ? I saw two tweets from this guy, that show he clearly doesn’t like RW, and he took one to the next level and made it a racial thing (which there is no place for, on social media or elsewhere). I believe I read he claimed that he had no racial slurs on his (now private) social media account...well that would be an example of using words carefully, because I didn’t see any “slurs” in the tweets, but I definitely saw racism displayed by the use of clean words. So there may as well have been slurs because the end result was the same. I think all this makes it much easier to draw conclusions, but based on what I’ve seen so far, there still is no clear cut evidence of what truly happened. What RW says he heard, and what the fan says he said, are very similar sounding, and I gotta question how clearly someone could be heard in that setting and from that distance. Thinking of it from a legal standpoint, I’m sure an Attorney would say something along the lines of, “evidence of bad character doesn’t prove that all of Mr. Keisel’s actions will be in bad taste”. The good news is the Arena has the right to ban someone if they want, it’s not like the guy has a “right” to be there, so I don’t know how much of a lawsuit he could really bring forward. Maybe get the ban removed, and some damages for defamation of character ? I’m ambivalent on the fine as well. I do think a fine was warranted, but the amount of the fine should be based on the results of an investigation, which again begs the question of how thorough of an investigation could have been done. The reason I say a fine was warranted is because Russell clearly could have handled himself better, and his retaliation is what has brought the NBA into the negative spotlight with this situation. Some moron yelling stupid things from the stands wouldn’t be newsworthy without the retaliation and cameras that followed it. They also should be taking account things like threatening violence towards women, which I would think the investigation would play an important part with. Seems to me like they just rushed into a judgement just to wash their hands of the issue, “yep, we did our part and issued a fine, case closed”. It doesn’t matter if the fine comes within 24 hours or 6 months, but it should be based on a solid judgement. If nothing else, this should be a lesson that social media can bite you in the ass, so you better be extremely careful what you post on it. That fan’s ban from the Arena can very well just be the tip of the iceberg, for the problems he has coming...

Never heard of him... Was he playing when we destroyed you guys at the Oracle, without Kawhi ? If it's the "National" Basketball Association, how is Toronto allowed in ? We're Hollywood North, money and lots of it ......

The best part of last night ?
Chris Boucher, a player on the Raptors who usually only gets to play during garbage time, got some extended minutes yesterday due to the Ibaka suspension.
Boucher is a super skinny guy, who by looking at him, the last thing you would think is the guy would be an athlete of any type. But I absolutely love it every time he gets on the floor, because whether it’s for 2 minutes or whatever, he plays his ass off like I don’t see from anyone else. Almost like a Rudy type guy. In the short time he’s out there, he’s sure to get a sweet block, nail a 3 pointer or something else to stick out. But for whatever reason, Nick Nurse does not have faith in him to ever give him some real playing time.
Last night, he was out there and had a block, a steal and a few good rebounds. The block...on LeBron James !

Watching Giannis shoot a 3 is hilarious...never gets old either
Looks just like me trying to set a volleyball after half a dozen shots of Crown Royal.

Russell Westbrook gets a 1 game suspension, for incurring his 16th Technical Foul of the year. The loss of that game check will be almost $250,000 (10x’s the amount of last week’s fine).
Sounds like he will miss Monday’s game...I’d like it much better if he were suspended for Wednesday’s or Friday’s game though (both will be against the Raptors).

As of last night, Raptors are the second team to have clinched a playoff spot this season. Now, if the bracket can only remain the way it’s currently sitting.... Raptors will almost certainly be the 2nd seed. I don't see the Pacers holding onto 3rd. Im sure as a Raptors fan you would rather face them than Philly or Boston in the 2nd round. Don't look too far ahead Though. Detroit is a real possibility as the 7th seed with a brutal stretch of games coming soon. Raptors fear Detroit. GO PISTONS! Job well done Pistons, you guys certainly have our number. It was smart to lock down Kawhi early on, and leave Jeremy Liabilty Lin alone. I understand why Nurse didn’t start VanVleet at PG today, but if he did, that may have been the difference maker. Hopefully Lowry will be back tomorrow night, and Lin has played his final minutes as a Raptor. Of course VanVleet fumbled in crunch time, which pretty much sealed the game, when Drummond of all people grab a steal and make it a 2 possession game within the final minute. But overall, I was very happy with how well VanVleet played in his first game back in over a month. Well of course you would be playing a different Raptors squad in the playoffs than you did today, but if you guys wanna hold on firmly to that #6 seed instead of falling to 7 or 8, I won’t be too upset I think I’m about ready to accept we won’t be overtaking the Bucks for the #1 seed at this point as well. Every single time they lose, we follow it up with an L of our own, instead of gaining an inch of ground...
